Earning the Trust of Foreign Women Before Dating

You’ve probably given your heart to someone at some point in your life. After all, relationships are built upon trust not just romantic ones but also the familial, professional, and platonic ones. When you're in a relationship, you give someone carte blanche to hurt you but have faith they will not exploit your vulnerability.

Trust is particularly important in a romantic relationship because of how intimate it is. Think about it; you get along far enough in a romantic relationship and you’re sharing finances, sleeping in the same bed, and making pretty much every major life decision together. That’s something that requires a great level of trust. You have to trust your partner to call you out and you also have to trust their decisions.

But trust goes both ways, particularly for a woman who’s trying to date a foreign man. Men dating foreign women need to realize the kind of sacrifice a lot of the women are going to be making when they progress far enough in the relationship. A lot of the time, that progress is worth it because it’s how lives are built.

And trust is not something that is so freely given because of how fragile it makes a person. But it is something that men can earn when they date foreign women.

Get her family to sign off on you

In a lot of foreign cultures, familial approval regarding family relationships is something that’s very important. In some countries, parents have the ability to veto their child’s choices when it comes to a romantic partner no matter how old they get. This is because they have the utmost trust in their parents.

So if you can get her parents to trust you, then she’ll trust you. If you can convince her family that your intentions with their daughter/sister are true, then they’ll trust you with her, which will compel her to be more trusting of you.

Present yourself honestly on your profile

The most practical way to date a foreign woman is to go online. Sure, you could travel to the country of your choice and then hope that you meet someone once you land, but laying down a foundation on the internet will make getting a relationship easier.

Now, a lot of people are somewhat dishonest when they’re online. Some people will present themselves as a whole new person, like sometimes an old man will present himself as a 20-year-old woman.

There are other people who won’t go to such lengths when it comes to their dishonesty, but they won’t be completely honest either. They’ll use pictures that are not accurate when it comes to their current appearance, like an older person using a picture that’s a few years out of date. They do this because they feel like they look better in the old picture than they do in the present reality. Some people will go a step further and alter their pictures to present themselves in a more flattering light.

These are practices that you should avoid. Sure, dishonesty and subterfuge may help you get matches, but dishonesty and subterfuge are going to be a hindrance when it comes to turning those matches into relationships because no one wants to feel like they’ve been sold a false bill of goods and that’s exactly what’d happen if a person who’s different from their online facade shows up.

So if you want someone to trust you, then you need to be honest about who you are. Yes, you can paint yourself in a more flattering light, but the base image has to be truthful.

Be consistent

Say you’ve won a girl over and are currently dating her. Maybe you’re in the same city or maybe you’ve had to date over the internet, whatever the case, you need to be consistent. If you’re going to set a schedule to be with her, whether it’s an in-person date at a restaurant or over Facetime or Zoom or Skype, then you need to make it and you need to make it consistently.

If you’re constantly changing plans at the last minute or if you’re standing her up one week and showing up the next, you’re going to come across as flaky. A flaky guy is great for a quick fling but you can’t trust one to be in a long-term relationship.

So if you’re going to say you’re going to do something or be somewhere, then you need to do that thing or be at that place and you need to do it or be there when you said you would. If you want to build trust with someone, then you need to prove that you’re worthy of that trust and you’ll have to start with the little things.

Give her your trust

Trust is a street that goes two ways. She gives you her trust and you give her your trust. It’s also something that a lot of people have a hard time with. Maybe it was broken by someone in the past and now they’re wary to try again.

For women that you’re dating, this can be pretty hard. If she’s going to marry you and move to a new country, she’s going to need to trust that you’re not going to leave her high and dry without the support system she has back home.

You can do all the things you need to do in order to present yourself as trustworthy. You can get her family’s approval, you can be honest, and you can be consistent and it still might not be enough.

If you really want to show someone that they can trust you, then trust them. Let them see when you’re vulnerable. Put them in a position to break your heart and hope that they don’t. Trust, ideally, is mutual.

Trust is a fragile, breakable thing. But despite that, it provides a strong foundation for a relationship. It’s not something that you can just take or buy, either. It has to be either earned or freely given.
