Susan with her luggage waits at the curve for an Uber Driver. The Uber car pulls up and the driver gets out of his car to help her put her luggage into the car. He was dress in tight jeans with a plaid shirt . She couldn’t help but notice how handsome he looked. His hand accidently touches hers as she is giving him her luggage.

She jecks her hand quickly away. What was that? She thought to herself.

She shugs it off and gets into the back seat of the car.

She noticed that he watched her through his mirror. The Uber stops in front of small cottage with the yard filled with beautiful flowers and blooming trees. A girl in her early thirties welcomes her.

There was excitement in the air on this sunny day as the crowd of people waited at the finish line of annual bike race. There were almost as many policemen as there were people. This was a new atmosphere for Sally. She lived all her life in the big city but when a job at her college friend elementary school opened up she had called her and asked her to apply. She did and now she was here in the Wichita Kansas area.

Susan standing, feeling a little out of place in the town’s crowd of spectators, quickly moves out of the way to let a biker go by and accidentally backs into someone.

She turns around to apologize and stares into the eyes of the Uber driver that picked her up from the airport. A look of surprise fell over her face but before she could say anything Julie her roommate, walks up.

The Uber driver smile at her and keeps walking.

Her roommate then waves at a fireman standing by his fire truck. They walked over to the fireman.

Julie her roommate was so engrossed in the that she forgot to introduce Susan.

The fireman turned to Susie and offered his hand.

Thank you, Susan replied and offered her hand in return.

Hi! I’m Jeff! By the way it is nice to meet you.

Oh sorry Susan, her roommate said, this is my one and only!

She told me you were moving here to take the elementary teacher’s job. Glad to have you here! Jeff added.

Susan smiled and turned to watch the race,

Suddenly she put her hand over her mouth with a shock look on her face.

Look!! she pointed to a toddler that had broke loose from his mom’s hand and was running across the street with the bikers coming at full speed. Jeff pushed his way though the crowd as it seem everyone had frozen staring in disbelief. He had just made it to the street when the Uber driver grabbed the child and ran across the street with him in his arms. The crowd cheered and his mom with tears in her eyes grabbed the child from the Uber driver at first angry then crying tears of gratitude and over and over thanked him for saving her child.

Jeff gave the Uber driver a triumphing wave and walked back over to Julie puttin his arms around her.

. That was my friend who picked up the kid.

Wow! That was amazing.

Jeff bent down and kiss her in the forehead pushing her hair out of face.

Can you come over for dinner tomorrow night? She in a low voice asked him.

Sure- well I was going out with that buddy for a few drinks- he paused as in deep thought as he looked at Susan. Can I bring him along- he’s an old friend from my high school days and just moved back.

Sure - why not? Said Susan. The more the merrier.

Suddenly the bikers were speeding pass, hitting 20 mph or more. Fans on both sides of the track screamed and cheered. Some people from the crowd were offering the cyclists bottle of water. All of a sudden two policemen grabbed a guy offering water to one of the bike riders. They cupped his hands behind his back and took him away.

The Uber driver looked though the crowd and her eyes locked with hers. Mesmerized she forced herself to look away. When she looked back, he was gone.

She turned to Jeff and asked what was that arresting all about. Oh, that guy giving the bottle of water probably spiked it!

How did they know? She asked.

Oh they have their ways of getting information, answered Jeff.

The friend of Jeff turned out to be the Uber Driver.

That night the four of them sat at the dinning table. Julie brought a big bowl of stew to the table, crunchy Italian bread and a fresh green salad. Susan thought food had never tasted so good.

Was that because she was sitting next to him?

They ate joked, laughed. Sally found the dinner to be fun and relaxing. Every she turn her head she would find Don looking at her smiling at her. She would look down and smile back at him.

Don , she found out when they were formally introduced, was dressed in linen white pants with a white shirt that enhanced his olive skin color and curly black hair. She also wore her strapless white sun dress, and could see when he looked at her that he approved.

After dinner Julie put some slow romantic music on. It was “Strangers in the night” by Frank Sinatra.

Julie pulled Jeff up from the table and they dance gazing into each other’s eyes.

Don got up and offered his hand askng her to dance with him.

She smiled up at him and slipped into his arms. He put his arms around her waist and pulled her close. They fit perfect together she thought to herself. She felt a immediate surge of pleasure and it felt like her whole body tingling. She could feel her heart beating faster and pulled away. The magmatism between them was overwhelming. She looked over at her roommate. She and Jeff were lost in their world oblivious to anything except each other.

Let’s go outside, she said.

Okay. He replied with a smile on his face.

She walked out on the flowered decked patio with him by her side.

They sat down in the patio chairs.

Tell me — did you have anything to do with that arrest that was made today .

He sat back and stared at her.

Yes. I’m a undercover policeman.

That what I thought. You have too much going for you- you had to be doing some other kind of work also snd when I saw how you saved that child— well- it was too professionally done.

You are a pretty smart young lady, he said.

He leaned close to her.

Susan, I could tell when I first met you I felt something- something I haven’t ever felt with any other woman. There is something between us——something special.

She gets up and stands with her back t back to him.

She felt it also and it was powerful and she had never been so effected by anyone else like he was affecting her.

He came up behind her putting his arms around her. She could feel his warmth and breath on her face.

I must admit ever since I met you I haven’t been able to think of anything else.

She turned round and she saw the sincerity in his eyes. He kisses her and she closes her eyes as she enjoys his tender kiss.

She pulls away and then puts her arms around him and kisses him passionately. He pushes her away looks in her twinkling laughing eyes and starts to laugh and then she starts to laugh. When they finally stopped laughing—they kissed again and again.
