It's no secret that taking care of everything saves you a lot of hassle.

In the case of home appliances, care can save you extra money out of pocket. The warranty is there to protect you from inconvenience, but it ends one day.

From then on, you need to be careful about how you take care of your appliances.

You will find many articles in which the specialists will make recommendations for the care of home appliances.

It can be considered one of them, although it is not written by specialists. What you will see in the following lines are some common-sense rules when it comes to caring for appliances, especially beasts and ironing stations.

Whether you have a simple iron or are happy to use the newest Philips ironing station model, the basic rules are the same for both. Let's start with the most obvious element: limestone.

This is the main enemy of an ironing station. Because we use tap water to iron, there aren't many ways to avoid limestone.

However, the amount of limestone depends on how hard or not the tap water is. Today most ironing stations indeed use anti-limescale systems, but they are filter-based systems, which, over time, deteriorate and lose their protective capabilities.

So what do we have to do to avoid depositing limescale on ironing stations?

Distilled or filtered water

A first step in reducing limescale is to use filtered water (Brita cups, for example, are very suitable for this) or distilled water.

The first option is much more convenient because distilled water is not so easy to obtain. If you still get distilled water, do not use it as such. It must be combined with tap water in a proportion of 50% -50%.

Keep the ironing station clean

The anti-limescale systems with which the ironing stations are equipped need our assistance. The tank must be filled, the station must be heated, and when the optimum temperature is reached, we must empty the tank by pressing a button that activates the anti-limescale filter.

This process must be performed at least once a month (depending on the hardness of the water used) or when we notice that the efficiency of the ironing station is not the desired one.

Empty the water container after each ironing session

It's one of the simplest methods. Leave the tank empty after each ironing session.

If you do not have the opportunity to use distilled water, draining after each use will prevent the formation of limescale deposits by drying.

Another effective method of caring for the ironing board is a regular and thorough cleaning of the sole. If for one reason or another, it becomes dirty or has textile residue on it, abrasive products or unsuitable materials should not be used to clean it.

It is best to rub the sole only after it has cooled and the station has been unplugged with a damp cotton towel. If the stain persists, we can apply a little soap. You can also use a not very hard sponge for this action.

The holes in the soleplate of the iron, where the steam comes out, must be cleaned, but avoid the use of sharp metal objects. If we notice dirt accumulated there, it is best to use ear sticks with cotton wool on top. With a little patience, the holes are very easy to clean.

So whether you have the simplest iron, or use the most modern Philips ironing station (or Tefal, or Rowenta, or many others to choose from), the tips above will help you extend your life. to your home appliance long after the warranty expires.

In other words, you will make ironing a slightly more pleasant, easier habit, with better results for your clothes and those of your loved ones.
