Breastfeeding in public should be outlawed

And other ridiculous things that you shouldn't say

Want a big dose of irony? People always have their breasts out for the world to see. Everyone compliments on how empowered they are for showing off their naked breasts. People all want to see them and gloat about having a better set than someone else. People literally pay money to see breasts. They comment on pictures of them. Save pictures to their phones. Stare at them in public. They think they're great... until you're using them to do what they were intended for and feeding a baby. Then it's considered indecent. Anyone else see a flaw in this logic?

It's articles like the one above that infuriate me beyond words. This man had NO right to photograph this woman while she was nursing her son. He should be the one shamed for his childish behavior! Meanwhile, there are so many people commenting on this crap on social media that its ridiculous. The mother says that she was showing less than what you would see on some girls walking down the street. She couldn't be more right! The guy who posted her photo on social media followed with this: “I want to know if this is appropriate or inappropriate as I’m trying to eat.”

Well that's all the baby was doing, eating! If you don't approve of a mother meeting her child's most basic need, one you're an idiot who should never procreate and two you're a pervert for seeing it as anything other than a mother offering nutrients to her child. Do you think that guy would have questioned it if it were some bimbo in shorts with her butt cheeks hanging out or a low cut top with side boob or extensive cleavage showing? No... but because it's something non sexual or skanky, here comes Mr. or Ms. Idiot to point out how out of line this mother is.

I am SICK of the double standards! When a celebrity wears a see through dress or swings naked on a wrecking ball, it's "empowering"... but a nursing mother is disgusting and offensive?! Get real! Grow up!

"Well she could have atleast covered herself"

Yeah, true.. but maybe its hot. Maybe the baby fusses and doesn't like to be covered while eating. Would you want to eat your meal in a bath room or under a blanket? "Well she should pump and bring the bottle if she is going to be out in public" Maybe the baby won't take the bottle? Ever breast fed a child before? Some of them refuse the bottle. My daughter did. She HATED the bottle. For some mom's, however, this IS absolutely an option. I pumped whenever I could. I have sat for hours attached to a machine that sucked milk out of my body like a cow on a farm and filled up storage bags with milk to try and feed my babies later. It's a painful task that I wouldn't wish on anyone. It isn't fun. It truly sucks. No pun intended.

So if you ever want to know why all mothers don't just “pump milk at home and bring a bottle to feed her baby in public,” you should probably hook your own nipples to a breast pump and crank it up to the highest setting, and see how you feel after 30 minutes of that. Not to mention that skin to skin contact sends a message into your body telling it what to produce more or less of for the child. If you don't approve of a mother feeding her child, then don't look, eh? You shouldn't be looking anyways. Mind your own damn business!

I hate living in a world where feeding your child is so out of line, but you can have guys come in topless with firefighter costumes on and that's ok.. or places like Hooters where the girls are deliberate skanks.. no one questions whether or not that's appropriate. People are so stupid it makes me sick. You can have shampoo commercials where girls are practically orgasming over shampoo and strutting around in thongs and bras. Hook up website commercials.. phone sex commercials.. Pictures of half naked girls with enormous fake breasts licking beer bottles or bent over in restaurants.... All of that is fine. But throw in a breast feeding mama and all hell breaks loose. Have some respect for mothers who are just feeding their children.

I can promise you that is is NEVER your business or your place to tell a mother how she should or shouldn't be breast feeding her child. She doesn't need your permission or your approval. I can also tell you that if you are one of the people who are ok with sharing pictures or videos of celebrities or models half dressed while complaining about women breastfeeding, then you are most definitely a hypocrite and should educate yourself on the benefits of breast feeding and have some respect for women that are giving their babies a gift that can never be taken away from them.

I can also tell you that unless a woman rips her top off and starts spraying you in public with her breast milk, then you absolutely have no business commenting on her feeding her child.

Now, if you are a mom that has been told to "cover up" while feeding your baby. Or one that has been told to take it to the bathroom or the car.. or to feed your baby before you leave the house (as if babies understand patience when their tummies are rumbling with hunger). If you're a mother that has ever had your family or friends try and tell you not to breastfeed or how gross it is, the following is for you.

"Hey, you should cover up"

"I recommend you try feeding the baby before you leave the house."

"Why are you doing that here?"

"The bathroom would probably be more quiet and comfortable for you to do that."

Breastfeeding is hard. Breast feeding mothers and babies need your support and understanding. Not your judgement and stupid opinions. Be kind.
