A Week Living on the Streets in PTCJ

an Intense Experience

Taking a Brisk Walk through the Concrete Jungle in the Day, Huge Mountains of Snow as Far as the Eye can see, Black Ice Eveready for Mischief trying to make your Day a little more Worse than It Already is, and Worst of all, those Puddle of Melted Snow on the Side Walk that will definitely Ruin your Last Pair of Dry Socks.

After Overcoming the “Winter Trial”, you finally Reach a Place where you can Sit and recharge your Batteries, and your Phone and that Cup of Coffee that became Able to Afford after Finding that Coin who was Lost in your Backpack, that hold Everything you Own.

Then, after 10 min of rummage, You Hand the Money to the Cashier with your Choice of Coffee and Are Confused when Met with Sympathetic Gaze saying, “Hang in There, Everything’s gonna be Alright.”

this Throws you Off in the Start, but Then You Start to get Warmed up to This, throughout the Day. Sometimes, it comes up in conversation and most of the Time, People just kinda Guess that you’re Homeless, you know, with the Worn-out Gloves, Dirty Jacket, untidy Beard and Face looking like you haven’t Slept in Years.

Living at this Level of Society, You get to Experience the Realness of Human Heart, where People helps You out as Best as they can by Offering -Dry Socks, Clothes, Free Coffee, Some Cigarette, Food to Eat, Free Bus Rides, etc

But, Sometimes You run into Something who call themselves Human, Living in the Society, which will Look at You like You’re an Abomination. Their Gaze tries Commands You to Disappear, because to them You’re Defiling the Beauty of the Street they have a House on, the City they live in, the Society they thriving in, at the Moment.

I would Think to Myself, seeing that Intimidating Stare, “I was also an Esteemed Participant of The Society a Few Weeks ago, Life happened and Here I am, just trying to Figure out Ways to Get out of My Current Situation.”

Some People, like Me, aren’t Good Planners, who are Simple Hard-Workers but Strategizing things first isn’t a Strong Suit of ours, whatever the Reason. The Ones with Sound Mind are just in a Rut and are off the Grid to Re-Think their Life Choices, to Start from Scratch and Ones whose Mind and Body are out of Sync and are just drifting Around Earth with a Simple Goal of Getting through The Day, these More Unfortunate ones aren’t Getting the Special Care they really Need.

This is the Kind of the Thing You can only come to Understand when You Live among the People, who are going through one of the TOUGH PHASE of their Life. Some of them, You’ll See are just Very Angry and very Frustrated with their Present Situation, I Mention this Type Above coz I often Used to See These types in the Upper Levels of Society, the Ones who are looking for a Fight so That They can Feel Better a Little Bit by Abusing Power, on Lower Levels it’s Physical Power and On Upper Levels, it’s Corporate Power.

After Giving Thought to WHAT GOES AROUND IN SOCIETY, I throw my Empty cup of Coffee in the Trash, Pick up my backpack and Starts walking to another Unknown Destination, that would make my Tedious Day a little bit Amusing.

So, without having Nothing to Do, I would walk up to any Bus Stop Nearby, get on it, and get off where I felt Like,

*Internal Monologue*

“Hey, Something Going on in this Place, let’s Explore that.”

or

“Never Been to This Part of Town before, Might as Well See what’s there to See.”

Then, I would Run Some Weird Bunch of People, just Standing There, talking, Smoking, looking like they’re Having Fun. You get a Cool Story out of It and maybe a Free Smoke.

and the Search for Entertainment would End the Day and then things will Take a Dark Turn, Pun Intended. So, It will Become a Search for Rest, a Place where you can Stretch your Legs and Back and Warm enough to let your Socks to Dry out, IT’S EASIER SAID THAN DONE.

So, You wander here and there for THAT Place, with Luck Playing a Big Role, especially if that Special Place isn’t already Taken by a Fellow Homeless Person. After some effort, You find Your Bed, Exclusively there for You for that Night, and You make a Pillow out of Your Backpack, Partly as If Someone Tries something with it, You ll know Right Away. Then, You Adjust Your Belongings in Your Several Pockets and Zip them Up and starts to Find that Perfect Position where You can be as Comfortable as You can get and Also stay Attentive enough to Look out for Potential Threats.

I gotta say I also Learned to Sleep like a Dolphin.

Eyes starts to Shut, one is forced to stay a little open, waiting for your Feet to Warm up somehow, hoping No one disturbs You as It depends a lot on Luck… Not Running into an Asshole who Likes to give Shit to Homeless people for Fun or Someone Complaining about You Loitering about the Public Place…

And the Next Second, Someone Wakes You up, You can know from the Way You’re Woken up if Mean You Harm, You Pull up your Cap and See a few Cops around You with a Concerned Look on Their Face.

They ask about your Situation and Tries to Lend a Hand, the Next Thing You know You’re on your way to a HOMELESS SHELTER, unknownst to the Kind of World that’s Waiting for You there.
