Ah, the day that we've all been waiting for. The day that seems so close yet out of reach. The day in which we all want to run out the house and hug our loved ones. For me that day will be full of the tiny little things that before seemed so insignificant but now mean the world.

We take for granted the little things in life as we get swept away in our own personal lives, our job and family. We dismiss the importance of being around people, having the freedom to go out and explore and holding a loved one.

Therefore, I want to appreciate the small things in my perfect day post-isolation. I'm going to list some main things that I desire to do in my perfect day! If I list everything, I could possibly be here all day typing, so I'm going to start with 5 important things to me.

1. Visiting my grandparents and hugging them

I think for most of us this is something we have missed the most. We are extremely lucky and privileged to live in a time where we have the technology to FaceTime and talk to as many members of our family as we wish to, all in the same screen. However, it doesn't compare to the physical touch of a hug, a cuddle, holding their hand. I took for granted before the gift it is to have your grandparents live close to you and be able to see them every week, give them a hug and have lunch together. We often don't realise the importance of something until we are unable to do it anymore. I am excited on my perfect day to go round to my grandparents house and just hug them. Have lunch together all in the same room and be in each other’s company.

2. Visiting a local coffee shop

I used to think going to a coffee shop was a simple thing, that everyone does, part of a daily routine but it is a luxury to be able to go out and buy coffee. Since isolation I haven't drank any coffee at all, no Starbucks or Costa, and I haven't missed it which is surprising. Though, I do miss the atmosphere of sitting in a cosy coffee shop, drinking a hot drink, reading a book and just being around other people. A coffee shop is a social place to visit, we can just sit for hours and not really be doing anything but observing and just being. In my perfect day I shall be bringing my book and journal to my local coffee shop and enjoying every single sip of a freshly brewed coffee.

3. Dining in my favourite restaurant

Making food at home is always nice and as someone who enjoys cooking it makes the process even better. It was only through isolation I realised how often I used to eat out and how it was just a "normal" thing to do rather than cook at home. It makes it that much more special when you go out to eat at your favourite restaurant after cooking at home for a few months. I eat a gluten-free vegan diet so I find it difficult sometimes to eat out but one of my favourite restaurants does amazing gluten-free food, I will be eating dinner out on my perfect day. How blessed are we to be able to go somewhere to eat where our food is cooked for us and we can just relax and enjoy the atmosphere. It's nice when you see other people out as well and families, everyone laughing and enjoying themselves.

4. Socialising

This covers a broad spectrum from shopping to just walking around outside. What I mean by socialising is just being around other people in the same environment and atmosphere. Walking around the shopping centre, the beach or just exploring. I have a deep desire to just be present in the world surrounded by others. In my perfect day, I want to drive to the beach and sit on the sand with my family in the beautiful sun and have a lovely time. Watching other people having fun on the beach and laughing. Splashing in the sea and playing games.

5. Visiting local community markets

One of my favourite things to do is visit local markets, food or activity events. Being a part of the local community is something that is important to me. You can interact with other people and make friends who a part of your local area. It's exciting and fun to meet new people! Supporting local businesses is something that I love about markets, I have found some amazing gluten-free independent bakers through visiting my local markets and tasting food is always a treat. In my perfect day, I shall be going to a local market and sampling amazing food!

Sounds like the perfect day, right?
