Well-chosen houseplants can become the centerpiece of your living room. It would be a shame to limit yourself to classic or traditional plants and pots when you have more interesting options. Flowers can help create a more relaxing atmosphere and cleaner air, but they can also be real elements of interior design.

Currently, there are special varieties of houseplants, pots, and unique containers, but also new ways to display flowers and plants in your home. Whether your home design tends to be classic or modern, you can give it a special take by implementing some of the following ideas.

1. Aerial or aerophyte plants

Did you know that there are plants that do not need soil? Aerial or aerophyte plants are natural and need surprisingly little care.

All you have to do is water them, especially since they absorb water through the leaves. In nature, they use their roots to attach themselves to trees or other plants. Due to their versatility, various interior design objects have appeared that contain them: from glass vessels and terrariums to suspended metal objects.

2. Plants, lichens, and mosses for the wall

If you like the feeling you have in the middle of nature, you can integrate it into your own home.

An increasingly popular trend is to decorate a wall or part of it with moss or small plants. This decorative choice offers a relaxing atmosphere and is ideal for the living room. The main benefit is that it is easy to maintain and has a long life.

If you want the economical version of this natural decoration, you can opt for a natural "painting", a frame that instead of art to represents muscles and lichens.

3. Woven plants

Woven plants come in great diversity. From twisted shrubs to stems of only 20 centimeters, these are an interesting version of some classic varieties.

Sansevieria (popularly known as the Sword or Mother-in-Law's Tongue) is one such example, with its twisted version being called the Sansevieria Twister.

Another very good option is Aeschynanthus Twister, a flowing plant that produces red flowers, which is why it is also called the "lipstick plant". Its leaves are twisted and the overall appearance of the plant is lush.

4. Another type of cactus

Cacti are easy plants to maintain and most of them look interesting. You may not know it, but there are over 2,000 types of cacti, some of which are less well-known but look special.

Of these, we suggest the following:

  • Mytrillocactus: has no spines;
  • Gymnocalycium: makes beautiful flowers;
  • Cleistocactus winter: it is flowing and has many small spines.

5. Plants suspended upside down

With the help of a special type of pot, you can decorate your home with plants suspended upside down. You do not need a special copy to do this.

Surprisingly, even kitchen plants, such as parsley and mint, can be kept that way. However, some have a much more interesting appearance when placed in this way, such as the jade tree (Crassula Ovata), the orchid, and the fern.

6. Beautiful succulents

The succulents fit very well with the modern, contemporary, or minimalist style of interior design. One of these is Ceresuscule Rhipsalis, known as the coral cactus (although it is not a cactus, but a succulent plant).

Its stems are thin, the crown is thick, and looks like a unique combination of a coral, a cactus, and a succulent plant.

7. Alge Marimo

No wonder these plants are often confused with muscle; in fact, they are known as Marimo moss balls. They are deep green, velvety-looking algae. You can buy them directly in mini-aquariums or water terrariums, either individually or in groups.
