There are prejudices that come along with a scenario when people see a Filipina going out with a rich-looking foreign man. One of the prejudices is that Filipino women are allegedly just after these men’s wealth.

If you are not used to seeing two people of different economic status and races going out together, you might be thinking the same thing — Filipino women being gold-diggers.

However, it’s unfair to generalize Filipino women just because they are entertaining these types of men.

Yes, they are tagged as homemakers, service providers to their partners, and nurses to their children, but they don’t treat men as a source of funds.

It is society that gives women the image of inferiority and dependency on men. Because of this social construct, women have become limited with the things they can possibly do.

Nonetheless, women in the Philippines prove that they possess different qualities that make them more appealing to the eyes of men, one of which is that they can make decisions and stand on their own.

Now, here are five common reasons why Filipino women are not entertaining men because of their assets:

They value education.

Filipino women are academically motivated because they envision themselves being successful once they finish their education.

Even though not all women in the Philippines have the chance to go to college because of financial constraints, they still look for ways to send themselves to school. They apply for different scholarships offered by schools and other private organizations.

Relatively, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics published data on women aged 25 and over who earned a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. In 2017, only 18.81% of women finished their college education compared to 18.14% last 2010.

Although there was only a slight difference in percentage in the 2010 and 2017 data, these numbers were still a good indicator that women are striving to earn a degree.

They are goal-oriented.

After graduating from a bachelor’s program, women are motivated to land a job related to their degree. They set goals and plan for it to make it a reality.

According to a report conducted by the Asian Development Bank in 2013, a recommendation was given to the Philippines with regard to the expansion of employment opportunities for women.

Job openings included fields in agriculture, industry, manufacturing, services in tourism and public sectors, as well as entrepreneurship.

Since most enterprises in the Philippines are recruiting women to work with them, women don’t miss the chance to showcase their skills and prove their worth in the work environment.

Due to women’s participation and inclusivity in the workforce, they help the nation to improve its economic status.

So when you meet a Filipino woman who spends ample time working, keep in mind that she doesn’t need a man who will sustain her wants and needs.

They are career-driven.

Despite the existence of gender inequality in some regions of the Philippines, Filipino women are still motivated to work hard as job security remains one of their priorities in 2021.

In a current survey conducted by a professional networking group, Filipino women are facing significant hardships while working in their chosen career path due to the current health crisis.

They find it difficult to manage their time, knowing that some of them are working remotely at home. But their eagerness to provide quality work makes them hope for seminars or training to improve their skills as employees.

Amidst all the challenges, these working women encourage themselves to accomplish their assigned tasks, knowing that it will lead to long-term results.

They generate their own income.

There are some Filipino women who establish their own businesses out of determination and perseverance. Even though some have not finished their studies yet, they still manage to generate their own earnings.

Some Filipinas tend to have pride when it comes to proving that they don’t need to depend on men for survival. They prefer to sweat all day and night than sit like a queen.

In 2015, there were 900,000 enterprises registered in the Philippines, and 10% of these enterprises were considered small. In relevance, 51% of ownership of small enterprises were held by women.

These numbers prove that Filipino women take responsibility for themselves as they are aware of their attention to detail and ability to multitask.

They are financially independent.

One of the real reasons why Filipino women are not after men’s money is that they are financially stable.

There are women in the Philippines who were born with a silver spoon and are privileged in most aspects of life. They don’t need to work overtime to sustain their needs. They don’t need to look for a second job to add another source of income.

Sometimes, women who have accomplished the first four reasons turn out to be financially independent. They work hard to achieve their current economic standing.

So if they prefer to entertain men of the same level, that’s because they give importance to what their future family should be.

Money is NOT the Objective of Relationships

Forming romantic relationships with Filipino women doesn’t essentially involve wealth. They spend time going out with you to get to know you better, not to have knowledge of how much you earn on a monthly basis.

Take away the prejudices you have about women in the Philippines and invest your time in getting to know them as individuals and as potential life partners.

The moment you find yourself falling in love with a Filipina and decide to spend the rest of your life with her, that’s the time that you open your mind about money playing an important role in your relationship.

Kevin Coss, a writer, editor, and communications strategist, wrote that,

“Love may bring two people together, but sometimes money is what drives them apart. Matters of finance can strain relationships in many ways, such as when spouses keep secret debts from their partners.”

Whether you’re in a romantic relationship with a Filipino woman or married to her, it’s important to have time to talk about money and discuss finances.

This way, you will come up with a better layout for your future funds in terms of spending on what is necessary and saving for your future target.
