1. Monalisa Chinda

You might not know this but earlier on in her life, veteran Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda, entered into one hell of a marriage with her now ex-husband, Tony Obieri.

The marriage according to Monalisa was very violent but at the time, she had no intention of leaving him. She didn't believe in divorce or separation and wanted to fight for the marriage. But according to the star, when the slapping and the beating became too much, so much so that one day he beat her to the point when the neighbors started shouting "Ah ah, is it everyday?", that was when Monalisa knew it was time to go. To make it worse, the beatings all happened in front of the couple's daughter, Tamar. Monalisa said she couldn't continue that way and so the next morning after that beating, she took her and Tamar's things and went away to go and stay with a friend.

While at her friend's place, she realized that she'd forgotten one of Tamar's essential clothing at the house and went back to get it in the hopes that he wouldn't be there. Unfortunately for her, he was. According to Monalisa, Tony beat her so badly, she almost died. After that final beating, Monalisa said that she had enough and decided then that was going to officially divorce him.

Now, Monalisa and her daughter are doing fantastic and the actress is now married to husband, Victor Coker.

There is life after an abusive husband.

2. Tonto Dikeh

Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh also endured an abusive marriage according to her. After leaving the marriage, she became an advocate against domestic violence participating in marches and posting pieces of advice against domestic violence. One powerful statement Tonto Dikeh made was specifically to people who say that they are staying put because of the children. Tonto Dikeh said:

I believe that you cannot be abused, or you cannot leave your child in an environment of abuse and claim that you are doing it for your child. No, you are doing it for yourself.

Children are not an excuse to get battered. Seek help.

3. Daddy Freeze

Another person who suffered in a domestically abusive relationship is OAP and presenter Daddy Freeze. He was reportedly abused by his ex-wife and took to social media to show injuries that he got from being in that relationship.

An important piece of advice he gave while speaking to people in abusive relationships is he said:

Every moment spent with an abusive partner COULD BE YOUR LAST! Leave while you can!

Men can also get abused in relationships and there's no shame in speaking out about it. Leave as soon as you can.

All 3 of the stories above are evidences that show that even the biggest of celebrities have suffered through domestic violence and it can happen to anybody. There is nothing to be ashamed about. It is not your fault.

4-End: Adesua Etomi, M.I, Beverly Naya, and More.
