Hello Everyone,

Wishing You All A Very Happy New Year!

Its a New Year. New Year means New Resolutions. A way to be more focused and outcome driven to our Goals. But how many of you have really fulfilled your new year resolutions that you made last year?

Not really! Right!

Its the same old story that gets repeated every year during New Year. We make resolutions on New Year's eve planning to start that much needed exercise routine or inculcating the habit of reading one page every single day but seldom are we able to stick to it. Seldom the new year resolutions that we take, we are able to continue post January end.

Have you really given it a thought?

You might feel what I am saying is right. So does that mean we should not make new year resolutions? Should we not work towards our goals?

The answer is really quite simple and easy to understand. The rule is not making resolutions but in focusing on becoming 1% better every single day.

So what do I really mean by that?

We all make goals and plan to achieve them but then life happens and we are unable to stick to our plans. Instead what we should be doing is instead of making plans to stick around we should strive to get 1% better than we were yesterday. Instead of making a goal to read one self help book a month, focus on reading 5 pages everyday. Don't worry about finishing the book within a month. Don't set goals. Instead work on theme based. Set Intentions. When you make it a goal, the mind starts negative thinking when you don't achieve your target. This causes a feeling of sadness upon non achievement of goals.

Rather what we should be focused on are setting intentions for the day, month and year. We should work on making and improving small daily changes which can be accommodated in our routine which are super easy to do. It can be as simple as reading one page of any book that you wish to read. Once you set the intention of doing it as a habit which you must follow every single day, the feeling of negativity does not arise when you are unable to make it for a day. This actually helps in uplifting your spirits.

Strive to make small do-able simple changes which are easy to implement and helps in achieving your larger goals. This rule is becoming 1% better everyday. It actually relieves the person in easing their burden, since non accomplishment is not there. Focus is on becoming better and improvising every day.

One can for instance try many things to accomplish with this 1% Rule. It can be exercising, reading a book, inculcating evening walks into your routine, walking more often, drinking more water etc. The list can go on with many items. Since 1% percent rule focuses on many easy do-able tasks which can become part of your routine, its quite likely that a person will be able to stick around it for a longer time duration, modify it according to his/her will and is quite likely to achieve his bigger goals. One needs to just break down a huge goal like weightloss of 10 kgs in next six months in small easy to do changes that can make one more fitter. This helps a lot. Breaking your bigger goals into small actionable steps does the trick. This makes it more likely for the person to stick around and perform the task as it quite easy and simple to perform.

So without much thought, instead of setting new year resolutions which subsequently you break down, focus on getting better 1% each day at a time.

So Happy Improvement!

Keep Leaning!
