‘The Beach House’ is a Great Place to Stay for Horror Fans
Young couple Emily and Randall (Liana Liberato and Noah Le Gros) travel to a getaway beach house for a weekend of relaxation. On arrival, they find the beach house double-booked with an older couple Jane and Mitch (Maryann Nagel and Jake Weber). There’s a brief period where The Beach House may go down the route of something like Ma or Get Out with the welcoming elders being slightly off. However, the senior pair are actually just warm and friendly. It’s telling how much that idea can be toyed with in the horror field, as so many films overplay the “niceness is camouflage” trope.

"Well that was a mistake"; A Bad Movie Review of Dolly Dearest (1991, Maria Lease)
I really hate dolls in horror movies. Don't get me wrong, I don't find them scary. I find them to be the poorest excuse for a horror antagonist ever conceived. They may be creepy set props but you can not honestly be scared of a doll coming at you with a knife or chainsaw. Ok well, in the ludicrous hypothetical scenario of that happening you'd likely be shitting you pants in terror but as trash movies go, it is a hilarious trope of film making failure. Fair enough if your film is tongue and cheek and not entirely serious, you can pull it off and have something that is genuinely fun and humorous to watch.

Movie Review: 'Slender Man' Horror in Truly Bad Taste
As soon as Slender Man cropped up in cinemas in 2018 I was told that I was mistaken for accusing the movie of utilizing the attempted homicide of a young girl to sell the movie. This was when I reviewed the movie on the radio. A fan said that it wasn't consequential by virtue of the story of the movie Slender Man not being the same as the real life tragedy. The action of the film casts the Slender Man as another in a long line vaguely ill-defined supernatural villains such as The Bye Bye Man or whatever the creature was in the Sinister franchise.

Okay, Horror Fans, Did You Know The Conjuring 3 Is Coming Out in September?
So, I am a horror fanatic. I love scary movies. I love to have the feeling of being spooked. It gives me an adrenaline rush. My favorite movie in todays time is The Conjuring. I've seen part 1, part 2, and currently waiting for part 3. Now, from what I have heard The Conjuring sequels are based on true stories. I mean real life events. I believe that is why I like it so much. The unimaginable being actually true. How awesome is that. Plus, lets not forget the actors Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are only some of my favorites. They play Ed and Lorraine Warren, the famous paranormal investigators and authors that are linked to the cases of the hauntings.

Classic Movie Review: The Mummy
Attempts to remake Universal Pictures’ iconic horror movie The Mummy fail repeatedly because they cannot come close to topping the artistry or the popcorn movie excitement of the 1932 original starring Boris Karloff. If I were a filmmaker and my assignment was to make another version of The Mummy I would probably retire and take up another profession because you’re asking me to do the impossible: there will never be another movie like Karloff's The Mummy.

Classic Movie Review: 'Carnival of Souls'
Carnival of Souls is one of the great anomalies in film history. For many reasons, this movie should not have happened and even if it did get made the chances of it being seen by a mass audience and remembered for 50 plus years is some kind of miracle. Carnival of Souls was conceived by a filmmaker from Lawrence, Kansas, Herk Harvey, who had a minuscule budget and zero experience in anything outside of industrial films and educational film strips.

A Short Review of The Lighthouse (2019, Robert Eggers)
I am going to flat out say it. I absolutely adored this film. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but for myself, it was a highly visceral and surreal film with a delightful amount of weirdness, eeriness and atmosphere, which created a perfect blend, that I enjoyed every minute of. For Robert Eggers second directed film, following his highly successful folk horror The Witch (2015, Robert Eggers), it is a truly impressive achievement.

A good woman is hard to find (2019)
Just let sleeping dogs lie. The moment you see Sarah (Sarah “The Lazarus Effect” Bolger) turning the house upside down while looking for batteries for her non-working vibrator and hear her say “Thank you Jesus” a little later with visible relief, it seems as if she’s a completely different character than the woman who came into the picture at the beginning of the film. Admittedly, a woman who still mourns her recently deceased husband. But then without blood splashes in her face and on her body. After seeing “Becky” only recently, “A good woman is hard to find” is yet another revenge film in which a desperate woman takes a thorough revenge on those who made her life a living hell. Not that she suffered physical injuries. But the murder of her husband and the way in which she is treated by society makes sure that it’s best your not going to stand in Sarah’s way. Those who do will experience the painful consequences.
