The Haunting of Willow House
Willow House. It stood deep in the heart of the town, an old Victorian mansion with a history as dark as its shadowy corridors. Most of the town's residents would avert their gaze and gather their children close whenever they had to walk by, whispering horror stories about its haunted past. Its walls were crumbling, and rats could be heard scurrying deep within the recesses of its rotting frame. None allowed their eyes to linger on its generally avoided walls. But not allowing one's curiosity to trump caution was generally easier said than done, and on this night, four daring souls had just found that out to the hueir own detriment. The moon hung low in the sky, casting four long shadows before them as Sarah, David, Emily and Mark crept up the overgrown path that led to Willow House. The scent of decay was thick in the air, and the trees that surrounded them seemed to be reaching out, growing, their skeletal fingers warning to go back. But the lure of the unknown was stronger, and with shaking hands, they pushed open the door. The foyer was pitch black, the only illumination coming from the moonlight filtering in through the rotting boards casting sinister shadows across the peeling wallpaper. Their hearts thundered in the silence, as they moved further into the house. Their footfalls echoing off the walls turning them into whispers from days long gone. The air seemed to get colder with every step, and a sense of trepidation seeped into their bones. The stillness was broken by a long, tortured scream that set their hair on end. Sarah's flashlight flickered and cast long, eerie shadows on the walls as they raced towards the source. It led them into a crumbling ballroom, its beautiful silk curtains now tattered rags and the chandelier that must once have been grand now hung broken in the center of the room, twisted metal against the ceiling. In the center of the room sat a grand piano, its keys haunted with years and years of being forgotten. "Oh," Emily's breath caught in her throat as she watched the curve of the piano lid slide shut over the keys in front of skeletal fingers. She looked at the figure hunched over the piano. "What is it — Oh my gosh." As they grew closer, they could see that the figure had no face at all. It was just an inky dark shadow. They were scared, watching as the figure turned their way. Its blank look chilled them deeply. Suddenly, it chased after them, eerie cries bouncing off the walls. Running away was their only thought. They tripped in the dark, their hearts racing. They wanted out, but the house was confusing. Its hallways bent and twisted, like a puzzle meant to trap them. They felt hopeless, then found a secret stairway in the house. Quickly, they went down, looking to avoid the scary things upstairs. Just like before, they felt hopeless when they found a hidden staircase in the house. Without waiting, they went downstairs to dodge the scary things contained inside.Their hearts sank when they got to the bottom. It was worse than they feared. There were cages on all sides, with rusty, twisted bars, Without a chance to respond, the verey were encircled by a crowd of vague figures. Their eyes flashed threat as they neared their targets. With escape routes blocked, they remained close to each other. Their fearful cries bounced off the walls as darkness overtook them.Inanely quiet once more was Willow House at dawn's first light. The inhabitants woke to this silence. Its mysteries stayed hidden within its structure forever. Yet for Sarah, David, Emily, and Mark, their scary situation was just starting. They were stuck in Willow House's eerie corridors, for an indefinite time.

A Knock on the Window
I lay in my bed, restless and alone, on a dark and silent night. I toss and turn in my bed, trying to find a comfortable spot, but I feel uneasy. Something about tonight just didn't feel right. I toss and turn until I finally find a comfortable position. I close my eyes, but it doesn't make a difference, it's too dark in my room to see a thing anyways. I guess it takes time for my eyes to adjust to darkness. I lay there, still and silent on a still and silent night. My body is relaxed, my mind is blank, I'm ready for some much needed rest. Instantly, the silence is shattered and my mind fills with fearful thoughts as my startled eyes flash open. Knock Knock. It's almost undoubtedly the sound of a fist on glass. But no, it couldn't be, what would someone's motivation be to wake someone alone in their home. Think logically. If someone wanted to break in, why would they warn me with a knock? They would just break in, making a loud and obvious noise, or try to be as silent as possible. Why would they knock? Monsters don't exist. I could give myself some peace of mind and simply look out the window, but I'm facing the other way and I'm too timid to turn my head, afraid of finding my greatest fears standing outside my window. What could it be though? Maybe a couple of birds flew into my window. No, that's too unrealistic. Could a group of kids be running around late at night, knocking on windows to get a few laughs? It's a possibility. Come to think of it, maybe it was my imagination. Maybe I heard the usual creak in the house and my paranoid mind has mistaken it for a knock. Knock Knock. Nope, that definitely wasn't my imagination. Those damn kids are persistent. They don't want to quit until they get that reaction. Maybe some sick twisted freak is standing outside waiting for me to look so he can smash through and attack me. No I don't think that. Don't get paranoid. Besides, he's outside, I'm inside, until I hear a shatter, I know I'm safe. Monsters don't exist. Besides, I haven't moved yet, hopefully those kids will think I'm a heavy sleeper and leave me alone. Knock Knock No, it can't be kids. No kid would wait around this long just to get a reaction from one, lonely guy, they'd just get bored and move along. But, what could it be? Why would a serial killer target me, of all people? Think logically, Monsters don't exist. Don't get paranoid. They're outside, I'm inside, until I hear a shatter, I know I'm safe. But if it's not a monster or some sort of killer, what could it be? Just pretend to be asleep and maybe they'll go away. Knock Knock. Oh God I can't think of a noise I hate more than that persistent knock! Please go away! Just leave me alone and let me be! There's no hope. It's going to get in here and do sick and horrible things to me. Inhale. Take deep breaths. I can feel my heart pound out of my chest. Just relax. Monsters don't exist. Remember, they're outside, I'm inside, until I hear a shatter I know I'm safe. Repeat that. Don't let your paranoia get the best of you. Just pretend to be asleep. Don't move a muscle. Knock Knock. They're outside, I'm inside, until I hear a shatter, I know I'm safe. Monsters don't exist. Just pretend to be asleep and pray it'll go away. Knock. Knock. They're outside, I'm inside, until I hear a shatter, I know I'm safe. Frightful tears begin to drip down my face. Monsters don't exist. Monsters DO NOT exist. I begin to whisper to myself, "They're outside, I'm inside, until I hear a shatter, I know I'm safe. They're outside, I'm inside, until I hear a shatter, I know I'm safe Knock Knock I CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE! I'm gonna go mad listening to these knocks! At least if I see what it is I'll have peace of mind! Take a deep breath. I repeat to myself, one more time, "They're outside, I'm inside, until I hear a shatter, I know I'm safe. I take a few more breaths, my heart pounding as hard as it's ever pounded at a mile a minute. I slowly turn my head to face the window. My heart sinks into my chest and I'm too afraid to scream or move. I turned my head to find a pale figure with beady, black eyes staring through me and into my soul as a horrid grin creeps across its face. It was standing inside the whole time, knocking on my window.

A Tale of Midnight Dread
A cold secret lay hidden beneath the canopy of ancient trees of Raven's Hollow in a small, desolate town where the moon struggled against the dense veil of night. The townsfolk rarely had cause to speak of the decrepit old mansion by the outskirts; its looming shadow had long cast darkness over a town once teeming with life. And though none dared speak more than any other of the grim old place, local folklore whispered of an old family legacy of grim, macabre is whispered that the Dedy family had been bound by satanic pact for generations, and that dark rites and practices had been the lifeblood of the once-thriving grounds of the mansion. At the strike of each midnight hour, an unmistakable sense of an abode world would fall heavy over the air of the town; passing through the gnarled, iron-wrought gate of the great manor, the grim silence of a hallowed hall would be shattered by whispers of terrible secrets carried on each unfelt breath of the creeping night. Intrepid journalist Olivia Reed felt the tendrils of curiosity wrap themselves around her. The mystery of the Duly mansion was too much for her to resist. With her lantern flickering and trepidation a constant lump in her throat, she ventured deeper. Down and over, through the bowels of Raven's Hollow. As the whispered legends painted by generations of disbelievers guided her toward her journey's end, she couldn't escape the sense that she was slipping back in time. Indeed, as she explored its ins and outs, its creaking floorboards and peeling wallpaper, it was almost as if the mansion was stuck in a single moment. And, as her light cast its gaze into deeper and deeper halls, as those whispers grew louder and louder, their otherworldly weight began to pick up the dust around her. She watched with every set of goosebumps the breathy forms waltzing at the corners of her periphery, and froze, as a cold that seemed to start in her bones enveloped her. Olivia discovered a library of forbidden tomes that laid out the Dedy family's descent into madness. Unholy pacts, sacrificial rites, and a malevolent force that consumed their very souls -- it was all there. It was evident that the mansion was a nexus of supernatural malevolence; a gateway to another, spectral realm. At the stroke of midnight, Olivia could feel a malevolent presence closing in. Whispers turned to haunted wails and the air crackled with an otherworldly energy. The walls themselves seemed to pulse with a ghastly heartbeat as the spirits of the damned cried out from within. Olivia discovers a hidden chamber adorned with arcane symbols in the heart of the mansion's decaying chapel. The Dedy family's pact with the unknown was the source of the malevolence. Its cursed artifact radiated the dark aura that swirled and merged with the tortured spirits of the past. Upon the malevolent force she repeated an ancient incantation. An incantation to break the curse. The mansion convulsed with supernatural fury. The shadows writhed, and the whispers crescendoed into deafening cacophony. The very fabric of reality seemed to unravel. With a blinding flash of light, the curse was broken and the oppressive presence lifted. The mansion, once a house of horrors, crumbled to the ground, its secrets dissolving into the air like ash. Freed from the town's spectral grip, Raven's Hollow began to heal at last. As she walked from the rubble of the Dedy mansion, Olivia saw the moon cast an eerie glow upon the now-peaceful town. The whispers had stopped, and the shadows were scattered to the corners of the memory. But the legend of Raven's Hollow would not be so easily forgotten — an eerie tale of the dead who had touched the living, and the town that could not escape its past.
