Universal Pictures released Night Swim on January 5, 2024, in the United States. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the movie made $53 million globally.

A little girl named Rebecca Summers visits her family pool one evening in 1992 in order to get a toy boat that her brother Tommy, who is terminally sick, owns. She gets pulled underneath by something in the pool as she tries to grab the boat.

Ray, Eve, and their kids, Elliot and Izzy, had to retire from baseball due to illness, thus in the present, the Waller family is looking for a new, permanent home. After learning that Ray's condition would benefit from having a pool in the backyard, they make the decision to buy a house with one. As he works to empty the pool in the backyard, Ray scrapes his hand. Upon inspection, the pool maintenance team discovers that the pool is largely self-sufficient, drawing its water from a nearby subterranean spring.

Ray appears to experience a remission from his disease when he increases his time in the pool as part of his therapy. But Eve notices changes in her spouse, and these worry her. Something in the pool attacks both Elliot and Izzy, and the household cat disappears. Their realtor, Kay, informs Eve, during a pool party, that just before Ray appears to force a child underwater and nearly drowns himself, although this is attributed to a side-effect of his sickness, the previous owners' daughter Rebecca Summers drowned in the pool.

After discovering that the Summers family has a lengthy history of disappearances from the house, Eve meets Rebecca's mother Lucy in order to locate the Summers family. Lucy says that the water in the pool was previously a part of a healing spring, but that in order to use the water, someone else has to be sacrificed to it. In order to cure Tommy's condition, Lucy felt obligated to sacrifice Rebecca to the pool's entity. When Eve discovers that Ray is now getting well thanks to the pool, she is horrified because it will need the sacrifice of one of the kids.

When Eve gets back to the house, she discovers that Ray is under the direct control of the creature, which tries to kill Izzy by trapping Elliot in the pool. While Izzy faces the force that is possessed by her father and ultimately uses a baseball bat to attack him, Eve tries to save her kid. After Eve successfully recovers an unconscious Elliot, Rebecca's ghost leads her to the pool's surface. Back in the yard, Ray is able to regain control of himself because to Elliot's condition and Izzy's assault. Ray offers the thing his life in order to stop it from attacking his kids.

Eve, Izzy, and Elliot decide to stay at the house and begin plans for the pool to be filled in so that nobody else becomes a victim of the monster.
