Lisa saw him sitting on the back porch, his ax laid across his lap. "Tom?" she asked, coming up behind him to put a hand on his shoulder.

Clanging and high-pitched beeps. Engines flaring to life. Bird song—hesitant at first, but as the horizon lightened, a babble that deepened into an outright racket. The rhythms of a society that gave NO SHITS about the poor folks who had worked a brutal shift the night before.

“They’re coming!” The words echoed in my head, each time grew louder than the former, till it all became a ringing panic. I knew it was far too late for me, but I still had to try. Lungs gulped in fear as my hands stumbled blindly over the strange texture of the peeling walls. The musty stale air clung to my lungs as my feet faltered over the decaying beams that once held the ceiling. Everything before my eyes was inky-black, leaving me nothing but the touch of my hand and the blood curdling screams of agony behind me to guide me out of this mad house. Hysterical laughter bubbled up not too far in front of myself as if they were aware of my presence, laughing at my attempted salvation. It was soft at first, high-pitched almost like a hyena. Although, it also seemed like it was directed away for me, almost like they were going the same direction as I.

I didn’t mean to run away! Oh dear… I hope I won’t get into too much trouble. I just got so scared of the mist cloud as it was rapidly flooding into the city that I panicked. My mind went absent and my limbs wouldn’t let me anywhere else than the park. The housing mother was so angry. She kept shouting over and over again to come back, but I couldn’t. No matter how much I wanted to turn back to the comfort of my bedroom and sturdy walls. I went to the closest and safest place I knew.

You may be well aware that death lurks in every corner of every room, of every building, of every closed and open space. What you may not be aware of is that death himself does not actually cause individuals to die. People cause it themselves and it spreads like an infectious disease.

I would like to tell a story from my childhood. In principle, there is no horror as such in this, but it's still unclear to me.

I woke to the gentle rumble of a car flying down the highway. A 90s pop song whispered from the radio. My eyelids felt like they had been taped closed and the sticky adhesive still clung to my lashes. I wiped the sleep off my face as I looked at the blue lights of the clock.

All residents who reside in Grayvine Village, has been told just one simple rule; Do Not Enter the Woods. It was plain and concise, just as all other laws that have been around since the beginning of time, but this rule was the most important, in all ways imaginable. No matter how long you have been in Grayvine, whether you were fifth generation, first generation, anywhere in between or just passing through, no matter your age, you were told as often as possible, Do Not Enter the Woods. Every child attending the Grayvine Primary School, every teenager who was enrolled at Grayvine Secondary and every young adult who studied in Grayvine Institute Further Education Centre was reminded each day on the way out of the school gates. Each week, at every place of work, an alert was sent out to every member of staff on the books phone, whether they were at work, had a day off at home or across the globe on holiday, had parental leave, sick leave, or anything else, reminding them of this rule, it was that imperative that it was not forgotten or broken.

Okay, maybe it's on me going into this expecting Attack the Block (2011). That's a really high bar and frankly, there aren't many that live up to it. Needless to say, I went into this with high expectations so keep that in mind as I proceed. And just to get it out of the way, I actually do recommend you give this movie a shot. Horror Heads, even general pg-13 audience.
