A Friend in the Darkness
It was dark in the room, but I wasn’t alone. The hair on the back of my neck stood straight out, my skin having that feeling when you know someone or something is close to you but you can’t see it. My heart beat faster as I sat in my bed, staring into the dark.

It was a stormy Sunday night. The sky was dark and the house was quiet. Margaret felt scared but that was nothing new. Ever since her husband passed away everything felt scary. Around every corner was a possible danger. Margaret feared she might never leave the house again but then she thought, "Why would I leave? Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Cargo' (2017)
Before you read the rest of this review I believe it's important to see the original short this movie is based on Cargo. That short has everything needed for zombie survival. The struggle, the tension, the desperation. What lengths will you go to? The original short did more right in seven minutes than most Z movies do in an hour and a half.

The next morning I woke up around 10, it wasn’t a big surprise that I was home alone. My parents weren’t around too often after they split. I lived with my dad but he was always too busy with work to be around on weekends and my mom had moved to Delaware about a year after their divorce was finalized. I got out of bed, ate a bowl of fruit loops and then called Owen. Unsurprisingly he didn’t pick up, he probably got more baked than a cake last night and was still sleeping off the effects. So I tried Henry, after a few rings his voice came through the speaker.
