Freddy Is My Slasher Boyfriend
Growing up in the 80s and 90s we were lucky. We had freedom to go where we wanted and do what we wanted as long as we were home by the time the 5 O'Clock whistle blew. At least in small town midwest like where I grew up. We played outside, rode our bikes and went to the pool alone, without a care in the world. We also had "Friday the 13th"'s Jason Vorhees, Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface, Halloween's Mike Myers and the all time best in my opinion A Nighmare on Elm Streets Freddy Kruger.

An Impossible Shadow
A burning anger was heating my chest as I stomped my feet through the cold puddles that litter the dirt trails behind my apartment complex. The New England chill of late autumn was heavy in the air around me as the faint scent of sweet maple lingered from the trees at my sides. The full moon overhead lit my path further into the woods and farther away from the argument I just had with my girlfriend.

TIS’ THE SEASON…TO BE SCARY Hope you like the title. Well, suffice it to say Halloween and Christmas aren’t that different from each other, when you think about it. For instance – people get dressed up, they spend tons of money to decorate their houses, and there’s no shortage of confections to tide you over…and give you nightmares. Well technically I’m Jewish, and while I celebrate Chanukah rather than Christmas, I do love and celebrate Halloween…or at least try. It’s a little difficult when you’re 40 and can’t really go trick or treating anymore…unless of course, you offer to go as a chaperone with your own kids, or for your siblings kids. While it sounds like Halloween is typically for children, there are thankfully a plethora of activities to keep adults engaged as well such as costume parties and haunted attractions. Perhaps, one of the most popular genres in the film industry is HORROR movies. Whether it’s the new faces of Horror or classic characters being remade for audiences, it’s not hard to see why. In the past couple of years there have literally been new faces added to the genre as well as remakes of classic movies. However, the question is “Do they live up to their predecessors?” Personally one of my mottos is “Life’s no fun without a good scare!” a line that pays homage to Tim Burton’s 1993 Classic Film THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, but I suppose you might say, “That’s a Ghost of a different color.”

Brandon Cronenberg Makes His Daddy Proud with ‘Possessor’
“Cronenbergian” pertains to the twisted works of filmmaker David Cronenberg, specifically his graphic depictions of bodily mutations. A film scholar might take offense at this simplification, referencing his common themes of sexuality, the morphing of modern technology with our daily lives, and humanity’s inability to comprehend reality objectively. But when it comes to popular culture, Cronenberg is largely famous for being one of the originators of “body horror”. People remember him through the glorious head-explosion seen in Scanners, James Woods growing a vagina in his stomach in Videodrome, or Jeff Goldblum transforming into a humanoid housefly in, you guessed it, The Fly. It has even sparked a famous episode of Rick and Morty, where Rick accidentally creates a hideous race of human beings referred to as “Cronenbergs”.

The best Slasher Movie isn't a Slasher movie.
Can you honestly say that the Alien franchise doesn't scare the liquids out of you? That when faced with a facehugger which jumps onto a persons face and penetrates their mouth. Forcible orally rapes said mouth and pumps alien eggs down the poor sods throat to be gestated in a human host stomach. Only for the Alien offspring to hatch later on by carving its way out/exploding out of its host's chest. Can you say that you're perfectly calm and collected with that idea?

The term zombie comes from Haitian folklore, and a zombie is usually a dead body that has been reanimated by various methods, in most cases, magic is used. In modern times a resurrected dead body is often referred to as a zombie, but does not necessarily have to be resurrected using magic, zombies are most commonly found in the genres of horror and fantasy.

Movie Review: 'Possessor' is Visually Dynamic, Creepy and Violent
Possessor has me vexed. This sci-fi horror movie from the son of legendary director David Cronenberg, Brandon Cronenberg, is visually dynamic and compelling in a disturbing fashion. But, what is the movie about? I am not sure I know what Brandon Cronenberg is intending to say with this movie that carries themes about identity, gender, violence and psychopathy. It’s a film packed with ideas but none of those ideas resonates as much as I believe they should.

The next day I woke up with a nice stretch and yawn. Sitting there just looking around my room as if I was expecting something or someone to be in there. I shrugged and crawled out of bed, slipping my slippers on before hitting the floor with my feet. The smell of bacon, eggs, and God knows what else, filled the room.

‘Death of Me’ Is a Waste of Time for the Audience, But a Nice Paid Vacation for the Cast and Crew
It’s not easy being a horror buff in 2020. By now, a lot of intriguing horror films should have already come out: from Spiral, the new Saw movie starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson; Antlers, director Scott Cooper’s first entry in the horror genre; Candyman, the promising new entry of the Candyman franchise, which similar to Halloween (2018), will be a direct sequel to the original and ignore the rest; and we shouldn’t forget Halloween Kills, the highly unnecessary sequel to the Halloween 2018 movie which was supposed to have come out this Halloween. Though, in all fairness, any of the follow-ups to John Carpenter’s original classic have been unnecessary.
