100 Horror Movies in October: Update One
We're almost halfway through spooky month (although let's be honest it's 2020 so it's spooky year *laughs then cries*). I have seen many posts about the '31 days of horror' challenge which is fun but a few years ago I found what was basically that challenge on steroids: watch 100 horror movies in October. I've tried and failed several times before but now I know there's a horror community here on Vocal I thought I would document my failings for this year, and review the best and worst.

The Night I Died
It was a night like any other night, and I was getting ready for a party at Nick's house. The moon was shining down, and I had the alcohol ready for the party. A normal walk to his house consists of hearing the owls hoot, the ambulances in the distance, but tonight, something was a bit...off. As I turned the corner, the feeling of the hairs standing up on my neck was strong and unnerving. Darkness is the only thing that was noticeable, besides the other lonely houses. The feeling persisted as I ran onto Nick's steps, but subsided, only somewhat, when I got inside the house.

Through the Window
My name is Kyoko Watanabe, and this is the story of the worst day of my life. I honestly still remember it like it was yesterday. It was a brisk autumn evening and I was finally coming back home from work. I can still recall the crunch of the leaves under my heels and the breeze on my cheek. I went inside. I placed my shoes by the door. I hung my coat and purse. The things I did almost everyday. I called out to my husband, “Honey, I’m home!”, but received no response.

Alone: A Story of Horror
The truck broke down at around 1:30 in the morning. The road was gravel with nothing but dark woods on either side and in all directions. His breathing, which could be seen in the cold winter air, was still erratic from the night's events. His hands were shaking and no matter how hard he tried to relax, he could not stop trembling. He knew his whole body and mind were still in shock. He walked a little down the road, not knowing what direction he was going, but he went as far as the high beams from the truck would let him. He looked up at the full moon, but passing clouds kept it from offering any help. His phone was smashed during the night's events but going back to the truck was not an option.

The Rocking Chair
The Rocking Chair Inspired by real Events I was 19 years old when I got my first apartment. I was in my second trimester of pregnancy both nervous and excited as I was very young and inexperienced in the world. My place was a small first floor unit in a commercial building with one other apartment on the second floor. The remainder of the space was home to a used car dealership. There was no yard just a lot with second hand cars for sale.

Coming Home
The town was silent, only the sound of rain crashing down on the cobblestones reverberated in her ears. Emily kept her gaze in front of her as she continued down the walk, her speed slowed down by the use of her cane. She had injured her leg a year ago in a sword fight and her leg was never the same again. As a pirate captain, Emily carried the shame of the lost fight with her, and she vowed to never be taken aback like that ever again.
