Dark Dreams
"Rose! Rose! This isn't you! PLEASE! JUST LET ME GO!" Dean yells over and over again with the upmost terror in his beautiful blue eyes. I Look over at his broken and beaten body in my hands while I dangle him over the White Cliff. My hands sweating from not me being scared that I might drop him but from the enticipation from dropping him. I laugh in his face and say; "Dean! This is me!" and I let him go so he could fall to the bottom. Where his death will be waiting for him.

Out On Hwy 101
Up late checking the want ads on the net since nobody uses newspapers in a small town; those are for big city guys looking for big city jobs that pay good. Got a ton of experience but after a good number of years it's all no good as you start all over. Nobody knows how hard it is to get a job after enough time goes by and you have no references to mention. I could be a manager of a restaurant by now, or a graphic designer, but that's not the hand I was dealt. For some people it's not so easy to prove how damn smart you are.

Purgatory
“Ann, it’s time to wake up, sweetheart,” Harris said, rolling over and rubbing his wife’s shoulder. He slid out of bed and shuffled to the window, pulling back the curtains so that the Colorado sunrise would stream in. A candle sat flickering in the window that he had forgotten to expire before they went to bed. He took his fingers and pinched out the flame before turning back to his wife. But when he looked at Ann, he noticed how she was still sound asleep. He decided to give her time to wake up and went to the bathroom.

I Can Still Hear It
"Don't move until Daddy gets home," my mother whispered, her voice cracking with anxiety. My little brother gripped my arm as we sat on the worn sofa, staring at the faint outline of her silhouette shuffling about. We heard her opening cupboards and swearing under her breath. "No candles," she accused as she bumped and banged and stubbed her toe. The idea of 'no candles' seemed very sinister to a seven-year-old, and I felt inexplicably guilty of the lack.

The First Implant
Adam walked through the alley as he had for several years. The high leaning towers swayed lightly against the natural breezes of the wind around them. It gave an ominous feeling that, at any moment, they would weaken and collapse atop the people below. Adam would often see the horror of that moment in his head. He liked doing that; his overactive imagination producing images in his head that might not happen but still held the potential of occurring.
