Alexander Hamilton’s parents weren’t really married, but they had two boys one named Alexander and one named James. One day Alexander’s father left leaving him, his brother, and his mother alone to survive. Then when Alexander was 12 he and his mother became sick he got better, but his mother died so he and his brother were alone. They stayed with a cousin, but he committed suicide. Alexander looked around for work that he could do. After a hurricane hit the island he lived on he wrote a letter to his father telling him about the hurricane. Somebody read it and put it in a newspaper where everyone could read how he wrote the precise description of what the hurricane was like. Everyone pitched in with money to send him to New York to get some schooling and he arrived in New York ready for his new life.

When Alexander got to New York he met up with an old friend from where he used to live. Alexander got into King’s College and while he was there he protected the President of the College from an angry mob that was chasing him. After he finished school early he joined the army to fight in the Revolutionary War which is where he met new friends like Marquis de Lafayette a Frenchman who came over to the Americas to help them fight the war for independence. During the War, Alexander met his future wife Elizabeth Schuyler who he married also. She became pregnant before the war ended. After the war, Alexander and Eliza had a baby. Now his new life would begin.

After the war, Alexander became a lawyer and became well known until Washington asked him to be the first Secretary of theTreasury. Alexander accepted and he moved his family so he could be closer to the Capital of the United States. Thomas Jefferson became Secretary of State when he came back from France. Alexander and Jefferson were not the best of friends they were actually more like enemies than friends. They worked together until Washington decided to retire from being President of the United States and had Hamilton write his Farewell Adress. Now Hamilton had to become a lawyer again.

Sometime after Washington retired his son Philip Hamilton died in a duel which caused pain and suffering to both Hamilton and his wife. They moved their family uptown where it was quiet. Around 1804, Aaron Burr a somewhat friend of Alexander was running for Governor of New York. Alexander went to a dinner party where they talked about Aaron Burr and somebody at the party let it slip what Alexander had said about Burr. Burr didn’t like this at all so he challenged hamilton to a duel after Alexander said he would not apologize. Alexander accepted the challenge and wrote his wife a letter that night telling her where he was and how much he loved her. He knew what he had to do to make it out alive so he thought.

Alexander knew that he was going to have to throw away his shot if he wanted to live. When Burr and he stood in front of each other in about the same spot his son had stood when he was killed. Alexander took the first position and threw away his shot, but Burr shot Hamilton. His Second and the doctor he took with him brought him back to New York where all his children saw him before he died and Eliza and Angelica, her sister, stood by his side. Eliza was to upset to leave the house, os she didn’t go to his funeral. Alexander created our Economic System that we use today because it was a smart one and logic one.
