What 13 reasons why got wrong and right

So I wanted to wait until the end of the series to write this in case there was something they got right or wrong in the last season. This was the last season and while it was boring I toughed it out.

In the fourth season clay talked about dream he had and I think the way he was a great metaphor for this whole series. He said that the kids had to grow up and be adults before their time. He said the kids in the dream had their childhood taken from them but they had to take their world back. He also said the kids had to send their friends out to battle and some of them died.

During the whole series Clay and his classmates has gone through so much. They had so much death and trauma in their life over the year or so that this series was set in. This is one of the things I had a problem with. How in the world do they expect us to believe all of this happened in a year or 2 in one school or even to one friend group. These things they cover are things that happen in most if not all schools in America. Several of these things may happen to one school in America.

Now let's move on to the first thing they got wrong. In the first season they focused on Hannah and her decision to end her life. A lot of parents blamed their teens suicide on this season if not the whole series. The series could have handled suicide better. I may look at this issue a little different then parents because I'm not one but I do have my opinions. Suicide does affect young people even if they don't know the person. If they know the person kids are going to feel guilty about suicide so not teaching them about this is not a good thing. However teaching them that making a person feel guilty is a reason to kill themselves is also wrong. Also the message of leaving behind a message is some what controversial. While I don't condone suicide here is my view. Leaving behind a message of blame could do damage and hurt someone. Leaving a message that takes blame away from others may help. Revenge is not a good reason to kill yourself. There's really not a good reason to kill yourself.

A lot of people said that they made Skye's bipolar is was a tad extreme or shown in an overdone manner. There are people who have bipolar that's just as extreme as Skye. Not everyone with bipolar will have the same experience. Mental illness affects everyone differently.

I think what they got right was the aftermath of rape. Jessica was a great example of what it may look like to come out on the other side of rape. Not everyone will have the same experience but I feel like a lot of people have one experience she had after her rape. I think Tyler was also a great example as well. There are people out there that don't want to live after they get assaulted or raped. Hannah was also an example of someone who didn't want to live after her rape either. Sadly people don't know that about me too survivors attempting suicide.

Justin is a good of the what they get right. There are people that get clean from drugs but never stay clean. There are also people that will try several times to get clean before they actually do it for good. People also get hooked young sometimes. Drugs are in high school and homeless communities. Justin was at one time both homeless and in high school.

I think that I covered everything. There was good and bad in this series. I kind of don't miss the series. I hope you enjoyed this post.
