The Chancellor estate

Those who watch the Young and the Restless believe the writers have dropped the ball in regard to Kay Chancellor’s home. For a time, after Jeanne Cooper passed away the house was neither shown, nor mentioned. Viewers are now complaining that recent storylines have left the mansion devoid of residents and fans want to see someone enjoy the spacious house. Some viewers believed that Kevin and Chloe would reside there with their children and Esther while others considered the couple tone nothing more than squatters.

Esther and the Fishers all made their exits when Abby and Chance decided to live in Katherine’s home.Recently the written abruptly wrote Chance out of the show leaving Abby living all alone in the mansion. Many viewers complained that Chance and Billy had more right to live on the Chancellor estate now that Jill officially owns it but is traveling. Some Y&R fans don’t believe that Abby will stay there all alone if her plans for a child fall through. Others have pointed out that Abby’s stepdad Brad Carlton left her a mansion in his will and believe that she and Chance should have moved into it.

If Abby were to move then who would live at the estate and make it a home? This one residence has seen many changes over the decades. Kay Chancellor lived there with her husband Phillip Chancellor II who ended up being seduced by Jill. After Katherine’sdeath Billy Abbott lived in the home and painted everything in ugly colors. This drastically took away from the appearance of the mansion add Jill was horrified. The Chancellor Estate was the setting for Billy and Chloe's humorous wedding and also Drusilla and Neil’s first trip down the aisle.

If the walls could talk they would reveal that within that house Katherine stabbed Suzanne Lynch and Jill once reigned as mistress of the estate after revealing during a grand gala that the mansion was bequeathed to her. In later years Jill had a tense argument with her husband Colin Atkinson inside the mansion. In her anger she pushed her naked spouse out the front door into the freezing cold and snow after he pulled yet another con on her. Katherine had a stroke in the house and Norman Peterson shot Rex Sterling on the premises.

Billy and Jill

After Katherine died in 2013, her housekeeper Esther Valentine was supposed to remain on the estate as the caretaker. Some Y&R viewers were troubled when Esther had to leave her home because of Chance and Abby. Others said that Kevin and Chloe were freeloading and needed their own place but everyone thought Esther had received a bad deal. There were even fans who said that Chance had no right to the property over Esther but now that’s no longer an issue. There are viewers who believe Abby will stay in the Chancellor estate and go through with the plan for Mariah to be her surrogate.

Nina has promised to be on hand until Chance returns and said she was ready to be a grandmother. If this happens then Nina would probably move into the mansion and possibly Tessa and Mariah would live there ias well until after the baby is born. Everything depends on the direction the storyline goes regarding Abby and her desire to have a baby. Viewers are wondering where Kevin, Chloe, Esther and the children are residing right now and why they were brought back to Y&R, only to be stuck in limbo?

The writers need to do right by these legacy characters and also the memory of Kay Chancellor. The Abby and Chance had their wedding inside the Chancellor estate and were planning to raise a child there. The decision to get rid of Chance had ruined their that storyline and no one knows if or when Jill’s grandson will return. Fans are hoping that somehow this situation will work itself out but who knows what the powers that be are planning next, so stay tuned.
