The Dawn Ages covers a period of time between -30,000 to -24,000DR

The empires of the creator races begin to fade into memory and usher in the Time of Dragons and the Time of Giants. During this time, individual dragons and clans rule large swaths of territory and battle with their rivals for further control over land, sea and the skies, creating devastating warfare among the dragons of Faerûn, which leads to isolated pockets of former dragon territories falling under the control of giants. Over time, these giant-ruled kingdoms come to threaten the leadership of dragonkind.

-30,000DR

Fall of the Aearee Empires:

The time of Dragons is ushered into as dragons across Faerûn swarm together in what is known as The First Flight of Dragons. They attack the avians in the air, on land and even underground. They attack the home nest of Viakoo, burning the city from the very skies. In their caverns beneath the Orsraun Mountains, the wyrm-general, Nagamat[1], rampaged through the ancestral hatcheries of Shara and claims the Kingdom of his own.

The Ba’etith created the Golden Skins of The World Serpent[2].

The great Giant God, Annam All-Father married Othea[3], a lesser Demi-Goddess of Toril. They union brought forth the creation of many children, and Osteria was formed in honour of Annam’s sons.

-29,500DR

Dragonfall War:

The followers of Xymor[4] attack and slay Nagamat, inciting the beginning of the Dragonfall War; a conflict that continue into the modern day between the follows of Bahamut and Tiamat.

-28,000DR

Ostoria – The Colossal Kingdom run by the Giants – reaches its height of power, stretching across Faerûn, from the Cold Lands to Vilhon Reach.

-27,000DR

Continuing their work to undermine the Dragon’s rule, the Fey open up new gates, allowing the first elves to immigrate to Toril. These primitive Green Elves[5] worshiped the Faerie Gods (not the Seldarine, which were unknown at this time). Although most of the Green Elves are content to remain in small scattered tribes, one group known as Ilythiiri[6] started negotiations with the dragons and begin to carve out a small kingdom to the south call Ilythiir. The great Ilythiiri capital of Atormash remains a shining beacon of elven culture for millenia.

-26,000DR

Othea pursues a series of unsatisfying affairs with various powers such as Vaprak, who was the father of the Orge race.

Thousand Year War:

An avatar of the dragon deity, Garyx leads Red Dragons into battle against the Giants of Osteria. Over time, this conflict draws in all of Dragonkind which rages on for a thousand years. At its conclusion, Ostreia is but a shadow of its former self. The Colossal Kingdom now only occupies the northernmost edge of the continent[7] .

-25, 500DR

Othea begin an affair with Ulutia, a minor Sea God of the Savage Frontier and their union brough forth four children – and new races into the world – Firbolg, Verbeeg, Voadkyn and Formorian. Annam would later kill Ulutia and hurl his body into the Cold Sea.

-25,400DR

Fleeing from the destruction of the island kingdom of Tintageer on their home world of Faerie, a small collection of Gold Elves led by their young Prince Durothil, cast a divination to find them a new home world – Toril – and then create a portal there. The refugees named this new land Faerûn – The One Land – giving it, its most popular name used to the present day. The slowly began to integrate themselves with the local Green Elves, who had come before them. The descendants of the Gold Elves soon became known as Sun Elves, and the descendants of the sole Silver Elf – Sharlario Moonflower – become known as the Moon Elves.

-25,000DR

Sharlario Moonflower and his son, Cornatith visit the city of Atornash in the south. Durothil take a Silver Dragon as a mount and becomes the first Dragon Rider. Durothil would later be slain in battle by the red wyrm, Mahatnartorian, known to the Greens Elves as the Master of the Mountaining.

-25,000DR

The First Rage of Dragons:

In a citadel in the northern reaches of Toril[8], the elves created the Dracorage Mythal. Linked to the appearance of the King-Killer star, the Dracorage Mythal incited what came to be known as the Rage of Dragons; a madness that drove all of Dragonkind into mindless destruction, even cause them to turn on their own offspring.

-24,500DR

Both Sun and Moon Elves build great cities to rival that of Atornash. The Sun Elves’ city of Occidian is soon spoken of as the centre of Elven music and dance, while the Moon Elves’ city of Sharlarion is unrivalled as the crossroads of both trade and commerce.

Occidian is sacked by a horde of Orcs led by the Abyssal Fiend, Haeshkaar, which then proceeds to attack Sharlarion. The hordes and Haeshkaar are eventually defeated by the Elves, but at a great cost.
