Best Billiards Movies
Don't blink or you might miss that trick shot. While Tom Cruise knows how to hustle pool in the movie, The Color Of Money, it’s not often that you fall in love in a pool hall, except for when it comes to billiards movies. There never seems to be a lack of beautiful women in the celluloid world of pool halls. Perhaps cracking balls has its appeal to the fairer sex, especially when they are good with a cue. The women in these billiards films give the guy shooters a real run for the money.

Frederick ParkPublished 8 years ago in GeeksCommon Traits of Gamers
Gamers come in many personality types. Their preferences and play styles are varied. Though gamers can be separated by platform or genre, they share common traits. The will to win, to player harder, and to be immersed all manifest themselves within the mind of a gamer.
Bjorn BjornsonPublished 8 years ago in GeeksCitizen Kane, 75 Years Later
1941 saw the release of Citizen Kane. Orson Welles directed, wrote, produced, and starred in the film, which is greatly criticized for its resemblance to the life of newspaper tycoon, William Randolph Hearst. The story is the quintessential American Dream, perfectly arching a rise and fall for our tragic hero, Charles Foster Kane. More than just for the classic narrative, Kane received many accolades after its release. Due to its technological advances, its interpretation of the American dream, and an emphasis on the gratuitous excess that comes along with power, Kane stands the test of time, even 75 years later.
Marina Caitlin WattsPublished 8 years ago in GeeksAdding Height In Cosplay
Height. It’s one of those things you can’t really do much about in cosplay, isn’t it? You can turn into a purple alien, a lizard person, or a cyborg through the use of makeup, you can get your werewolf or elf on with prosthetics, and you can drive people up the wall with your Waluigi vocal imitation, but you can’t get from 5'6 to 5'11 without throwing on a pair of six-inch heels and going as the stripper version of your character.
Anne St. MariePublished 8 years ago in GeeksNaughty List of Christmas Movies
So maybe you’ve had it up to here with the sweet, happy Christmas specials and need something a little more dark and twisted (and/or slightly raunchy). Or perhaps you want to torture your relatives who have spent all day asking you when you’re going to get married and why you skipped work to see that stupid Star Wars movie. Either way, here are some non-classic Christmas classics for your viewing (dis)pleasure. From the stoners known as Harold and Kumar to the cute but vicious Gremlins, Christmas is the setting for many genres of movies. Whether it is superhero films that begin with a Christmas light-adorned home being blown up or a glimpse at an alcoholic Santa Claus, there seems to be no boundaries when it comes to the types of Christmas movies that can be on the naughty list this holiday season.
Geeks StaffPublished 8 years ago in GeeksRetrospective Communist Films
Only retrospectively, a few major films in the 1950s dealt with communists and the red scare as a criticism. High Noon and Dr. Strangelove all read more as conforming-related when looked at decades later.
Marina Caitlin WattsPublished 8 years ago in GeeksThe 3 Best Archie Comic Crossovers
When you hear about classic comic book characters most people don't consider Archie and his friends in that mix. However, Archie has been around since 1939 and shows no signs of slowing down. Just like other comics Archie has a long and storied history that people connect with. Even the people that don't consider Archie a "real" comic can't deny how influential and far-reaching the brand goes. Archie has been featured in comics, television shows and there are even rumors about a potential Archie Broadway show. While all of these credentials are impressive, the biggest sign of Archie's legitimacy as a comic book are the crossovers. Crossovers have been a staple for comic books since Marvel launched their first major crossover event, "The Secret Wars." Crossovers are common in comic books, they're a way for superheroes to interact with one another in a way that was previously seen as impossible. Just like any other truly great comic book, Archie has his fair share of crossovers. Here are my personal top 3 Archie crossovers that you have to check out.
Jason SchwartzPublished 8 years ago in GeeksRegulating the Movies
In the 1920s, the movie industry was under fire. In 1921, Roscoe Fatty Arbuckle (American silent film actor and director) was charged with the rape and murder of actress Virginia Rappe, thus making the movie industry disreputable. There were threats of boycotts, government regulation all over, and much-needed interventions. The movies needed to fix themselves before the government did.
Marina Caitlin WattsPublished 8 years ago in Geeks'Doctor Who' Kitchen Products For Holiday Meals
The only thing Daleks will be exterminating this holiday season is the turkey or ham! They’ll probably overcook it, but the Doctor always has a backup plan for you. Unfortunately, your favorite British alien probably won’t be in attendance at your holiday dinner. However, you can still feel the Doctor’s presence with some cool geeky Doctor Who products. The only way it could be any better was if the Doctor Who Christmas Special got swapped for a Thanksgiving special. But unlikely, given the British don't celebrate Thanksgiving.
Stephen HamiltonPublished 8 years ago in GeeksX-Men: The Animated Series - 24th Anniversary Interview
24 years after its release, the legacy of X-Men: the Animated Series continues to define superhero storytelling. For ‘90s kids it was their gateway into the Marvel universe. For Marvel it was their first truly successful adaptation of a property for television. Geeks had the opportunity to sit down with Eric and Julia Lewald, showrunner and writer, respectively, on what is widely considered one of the most successful animated shows of all time.
