Mysterious Notebook
As I look through all of my dad's belongings, trying to hold back my tears, I see a strange notebook on the floor of the attic. It has been three months since my dad passed away and I am finally able to sort through the things left to me in his will. So here I am, in a hot attic a few weeks before my birthday, looking at a bunch of junk that my dad never threw away. Yet, this notebook does not look like junk. I bring it downstairs and sit on the couch to look at it. It looks like whatever is in it was quite important to my dad. The front of it has a weird title on it called 'Bitcoin'. "Isn't Bitcoin that virtually currency?", I think to myself. "Why would dad have a notebook with 'Bitcoin' on it?". I never thought of my dad as savvy with technology. I had to set up his first smartphone for him and teach him how to use it. So for him to have something potentially connected to Bitcoin is intriguing. Once I open the notebook I am shocked at what I find. The first page is packed with names and contact information, but the one that sticks out the most is 'Satoshi Nakamoto'. I have never heard of this name before, so I take out my phone and dial the number underneath the name. "This number does not exist? Why would my dad have a number that does not exist?" I say to myself. That is when I start to flip through the pages of the notebook and a piece of paper falls out. The paper says:

This story is a fan fiction, heavily influenced by Lord Of The Rings. Hope you enjoy. As they say, history is written by the winners of war. but what if there were hero's who did not want to be known, or legends told for that matter. This is a story of one such hero. One who knew if his existence was found out, he would be hunted to the ends of the earth. So as he intertwined himself into the affairs of history, he made sure no record of his existence was written. He left his existence to rumors and superstition so as to be lost to the shadows. This is his beginning.

False Gods by Graham McNeill
False Gods by Graham McNeill is book 2 in the Horus Heresy series and continued directly on from book 1 - Horus Rising. Once again I am absolutely blown away by the level of character detail maintained in this book. Despite being written by a different author, McNeill has managed to seamlessly preserve and develop the key characters from the first. Loken and the others of the Mournival are presented with some incredibly difficult situations and McNeill does a wonderful job of challenging and growing these characters as the sinister nature of the Heresy takes root.
David HeymanPublished 3 years ago in GeeksWEDDING CRASHERS - 16 Years Later
Looking back, can you think of any movie that continues to resonate years after initial release? In light of recent rumors regarding a potential sequel, I went back and rewatched Wedding Crashers. Simply put, all the comedy gags hold up just as well as they did back in 2005, and then some…

I discovered Victoria Vincent, A.K.A. Vewn’s, animation during high school, and felt a little less alone from just watching them. Victoria’s animations are a stylized piece of storytelling unlike any other. She maintains a cryptic but childlike perspective in these engaging sequences that almost propels you into the mindset and perspective of the character. And with that, she brings this state of disillusionment and anxiety in dissociating and unstable worlds. An eclectic master of anxiety and personality to put the unasked questions in front of peoples faces, she is an inspiration to me almost to the point of a muse.
A Filmmaker's Guide to: Claude Rains
In this chapter of ‘the filmmaker’s guide’ we’re actually going to be learning about literature and film together. I understand that many of you are sitting in university during difficult times and finding it increasingly hard to study and I understand that many of you who are not at university or not planning on it are possibly stuck of what to do, need a break or even need to catch up on learning film before you get to the next level. This guide will be brief but will also contain: new vocabulary, concepts and theories, films to watch and we will be exploring something taboo until now in the ‘filmmaker’s guide’ - academia (abyss opens). Each article will explore a different concept of film, philosophy, literature or bibliography/filmography etc. in order to give you something new to learn each time we see each other. You can use some of the words amongst family and friends to sound clever or you can get back to me (email in bio) and tell me how you’re doing. So, strap in and prepare for the filmmaker’s guide to film studies because it is going to be one wild ride.
Annie KapurPublished 3 years ago in GeeksBook Review: "The Elephant's Journey" by Jose Saramago
Jose Saramago is one of the greatest writers of the 20th century and his prose has often conjured overwhelming emotions within me. This book is no exception. Even though the book is supposed to be a bit witty and a bit odd, I found it also very emotional because it still contains these moments within Jose Saramago's novels that characterise them for the reader: these moments of pure emotion, these philosophical introspective thoughts, this moving storyline that normally involves growth of being.
