Gloria and John Abbott

The Young and the Restless ghosts Gloria again

Judith Chapman fans were elated when she returned as Gloria Bardwell to The Young and the Restless a few months back. She manipulated her daughter-in-law Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) into giving her Sally Spectra's (Courtney Hope) old job. Gloria even talked with Sally a few times and gave her sage advice and then she went MIA yet again.

Jerry Douglas death has fans wondering about his former on-screen wife

The recent death of soap vet Jerry Douglas who portrayed John Abbott has rocked the world of daytime. It also caused some Y&R viewers to recall his marriage to Gloria. The couple wed in 2004 and endured a lot of drama thanks to Gloria's first husband Tom Fisher (Jonathan Fraser) who was the father of her son Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart). During a struggle, over the firearm, John's gun went off and Tom was hit and died. John was given a prison sentence but had a stroke and died before he could complete it.

Jerry Douglas returned to The Young and the Restless as a lookalike named Allistair Wallingford. He was working with Gloria's new husband Jeffrey Bardwell, and Jack Abbott (Peter Bregman) who at the time was married to Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). The three Genoa City residents wanted to frighten Gloria and make her think John had come back from the dead so she would not try to obtain her inheritance as Mrs. John Abbott.

The Young and the Restless future for Judith Chapman

The actress addressed the death of her former castmate on Facebook by saying the following:

I Need to share with Jerry's family, friends, and fans what he said to me in my early days of playing his wife, Gloria on Y&R....Not verbatim, but close.

"Stick with me, Judy...I'll keep an eye out for you..." I would say.."Thank you, Jerry, but I have done this before. ." Now I say.."Thank You, Jerry, Thank you for looking out for me..It means the world..." God Bless you, and Rest in Peace, Dear Jerry

Your friend, Judy

The Young and the Restless sidelines fan favorites

Chapman has not addressed her role on The Young and the Restless but her fans are hoping she will soon return. Gloria would be hilarious putting Sally Spectra in her place about creating that wedding dress for Victoria and ruining Lauren's chance to be recognized. Can't you just hear her referring to Sally as "Missy" and giving Chloe Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) hell for being connected to Ms. Spectra?

Gloria's Genoa City family is not on-screen as much as they used to be. Lauren, Chloe, Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) are fan favorites and the viewers would love to see more of them. Those who watch The Young and the Restless had thought perhaps there would be some comedy with Gloria and Esther Valentine (KateLender) battling over their new grandson Miles Fisher. Instead Esther, Kevin and Chloe were kicked out of the Chancellor mansion and Lender has not been seen since.

Gloria's loved ones are not involved in front-burner storylines at this time but do appear on screen occasionally. Michael is working with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) on her case against Sutton Ames (Jack Landron), Chloe spends her time trying to keep Sally in line and Kevin pops up every now and again just to talk to his wife or brother.

Be on the lookout for updates, spoilers, and breaking news related to Gloria and her family. Perhaps the powers that be will listen to the fans and have them all on camera together again soon.
