Best Serial Killer Shows on Netflix part 2

Is First really the Worst?

First is the worst, second is the best? Just kidding. In this case these are just as worse as the series that are in part 1 of the Best Serial Killer shows on Netflix. This Part 2 will give you 5 more terribly great serial killer docuseries that I believe are a must watch on Netflix, especially in this time of spooky season.

1. Night Stalker

Now different to Conversations with a Killer in Part 1 of this list did, this did not allow for any redeeming qualities from the killer. What they did so well was bring you into the police investigation which is one of my favourite things in a good true crim docuseries. Where they just suck you into what they were actually doing and going through during the course of the investigation and this one does that perfectly.

From the stary when you get the police warning on TV like how they would have back in the day. The harrowing warnings that were given out throughout the years in this hunt, in contrast to how they made the city seem so loving and bright. This really hammered home what this case and this killer was going to the town which was just causing pure fear.

It is a really nice(?) 4 part series that captures and goes thorugh the entire roller coaster ride that is this case. From the initial confusion, to narrowing it down to a suspect, the manhunt for Richard Ramirez, and then ultimantely the capture followed by the antics that he put on in front of the court. Which probably what he is most known for, his antics in front of the court and just how he made an entire mockery of the justice system all while he is on trial for killing at least 13 women..

It is a great adrenaline ride and one that kind of keeps you in a state of panic until Richard is captured which always makes for a more exciting true crime series.

2. The Confession Killer

The cool thing about this 5 part series, is that it starts out in the classic sense, where you are looking at one Henry Lee Lucas for the murders of two women and then it just takes on a new light and explodes to be something so much more.

And it does not just focus on what he personally did but also just what a mess was caused by him confssing to committing crimes that he had no part in. On top of that, the police that he was with just going with it and not really looking into the details of the crimes, but just accepting what he said as face value and "solving" all these cases.

At one point he had confessed to killing over 360 people... which at that time you had some notorious killers but no one had a body count like that. Ted Bundy, who is probably one of the most prolific killers that we have seen was only convicted of killing 36 women but probably killed closer to 100 though that will remain unknown. So Lucas has literally allegedly tripled that body count...

Where it starts to get good, is when other police departments and other federal investigations start looking into the timelines of what Henry has confessed to and realizing that it's not possible for him to have committed all these crimes. How it is literally impossible to have killed someone in Phoneix and then 7 hours later kill someone in Seatlle at that time period. So, this is a double feature if you will of not only this horrific man who just wants to bigger than he already will be, but also the incimpetence of a police department who wanted the notoriety of being known as the one who solved all these cases.

3. The Sons of Sam: A Decent into Darkness

I feel like if you are into true crime in the slightest then there are certain names that are recognizable to you and David Berkowitz is one of those names. And if you do not know him by hs legal name then you probably know him by his self proclaimed title: The Son of Sam. It is honestly surprising that there are not more series about him, however this one is fantastic!

Again, it's one of those that follows the investigation very well, talking to all those who were very much involved in the investigation and giving their real feelings about what was happening during the time that the Son of Sam had New York basically in his grasp. Like the entire city was terrified because there were random killings, there was no through line, and you have these terrifying letters that are being sent out calling himself the Son of Sam.

What's highlighted in this one too us that once he named himself it also added another level to everything becausing having an unknown killer is one thing and scary in it's own right but when he was named, it adds this extra sense because now there is a name to the killer. Before, it was a no one doing these murders, but now there is a tangible thing that everyone can grasp him by which is something that is heavily highlighted in this.

And those letters that he sent naming himself also helped lead to his capture similar to what happened with the Unabomber. Though, I mean ultimately what did get hime captured was a parking ticket. Funniest way a serial killer has been caught in my opinion.

It's a very interesting watch as well because the first three epsiodes are very much case related and very much like how everything went down and then the final episode is a full on sit down interview with Berkowitz himself just highlighting how insane but not actually insane he is it's just his brain is very clearly wired differently to everyone else is in order for him to be able to go out and do this. And I mean it's obvious considering that he was saying that he was controlled by an evil spirit so you know take that for what you will.

4. Inside the Criminal Mind

This should be a staple in every true crime fans repertoire. This is what someone who is exploring their interests in what the true crime world has to offer. That this does is breaks down the different subcultures that is in the branch of true crime and gives you a look into some of the more notorious killers, cult leaders, crime lords, everything to the very basics.

It doesn't make things complicated, it basically says here is the definition of this killer, here are some examples and the whys for each of the categories. It also is really good because I think as true crime buffs, myself included, we get narrow minded and focus soley on the serial killer aspect of true crime. It is one of the biggest aspects for sure but it does not tell the whole picture and that is what this series does. It starts with what is considerd the well known branch of true crime and then reminds you that there are other apsects as well.
