Amber Heard Has Been Fired From Aquaman 2

Anything said in this article is all my own opinion based on what is readily available for the public online. I do not know Amber Heard or Johnny Depp personally nor do I have any first-hand knowledge of anything going on between them at this time. Please note this and keep it in mind as you read this, or any of my articles on this topic that preceded this one.

News just broke that Amber Heard will not be returning for the sequel for “Aquaman” with Warner Brothers. The reasoning for this is still up in the air, though reports have indicated the reasoning for her termination came as the result of her violating her contract with Warner Brothers in regards to her fitness regimen. Apparently, she has put on more weight in recent months than what her contract allows for her to start working on the film. Of course, we do not know the whole story about the grounds for her termination, but this is the reason that seems to be circulating through different media outlets.

I can assure you, I have major issues with this being the reasoning for her termination, and the harsh expectations that are put upon women in the entertainment industry to keep a certain image. This on its own merits will likely be the subject of a future article for me, but this is not what I want to discuss here. What I want to discuss is the real reason I think Amber Heard was terminated.

Long story short, Amber Heard is a public relations nightmare, and Warner Brothers is covering their butts, but doing so for the wrong reasons.

There has been a petition going around to have Amber Heard canned from the film for months now, if not longer, signed by thousands of people; much of the reason being for the strong belief within the court of public opinion that she lied about her claims of domestic abuse at the hands of her now ex-husband Johnny Depp. This came as a result of audio recordings of her admitting to hitting and abusing Depp on more than one occasion and even gas-lighting him when he tries to confront her in the conversation. On top of this, there was the ruling in the defamation law suit Depp filed against a UK tabloid which said he was “A Wife Beater” without any evidence or convictions to back this statement. The ruling went against Johnny Depp, which sent fans and social media into a tailspin and demanding Amber Heard be fired from “Aquaman 2” or any other future film or television projects. It’s also come to light that Johnny Depp will now be filing a defamation claim against Amber Heard herself, claiming she lied about the claims of abuse, that she lied on the witness stand during court proceedings multiple times, which led to further emotional and financial harm to Johnny Depp. If the ruling goes in Depp’s favor, Amber Heard will likely receive jail time possibly for filing a false report to police and committing perjury in a court of law. The point being, Amber Heard doesn’t have the audience wide appeal she might have once had as a result of all of this, and Warner Brothers knows it and is now cleaning house before things get worse. This is the real reason Amber Heard was fired from “Aquaman 2”. She is a nightmare for the image of the franchise and for the image of Warner Brothers themselves.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if they fired her as just a way to appear impartial, since they also fired Johnny Depp from the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” franchise some months ago. This could perhaps be their way of saying “we don’t side with anyone and we’ll prove that by letting them both go”. I would be inclined to believe this if it weren’t for the timing of everything that has occurred.

Johnny Depp was fired months ago from “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, whereas the news of Amber Heard being fired from “Aquaman 2” only just surfaced within the last couple of days or so, shortly after the news of Johnny Depp’s plans to file the defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard. When you consider this timeline, it all looks very shady, and without any sense of a moral compass on Warner Brothers part.

On a personal note, I am happy this decision has been made, I am also frustrated that it took them this long, especially after everything that has come out pointing to Amber Heard being the abuser in this situation. I am frustrated that it took them being afraid of losing ticket sales or in-home purchases, rather than actually doing the right thing. And using the reason of her gaining weight doesn’t help making them appear to be anything less than just a machine for films with the goal of only making money.

Lives have been destroyed throughout this entire saga between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. Friends and family of those involved, who are only involved because they are family and friends. Others who have suffered are no doubt the large number of real victims of domestic abuse who have been afraid to come forward for the reason of being that if it’s a woman coming forward they will now fear that they will be thought to be a liar because Amber Heard lied, or because they think because they’re a man people will jump to their conclusions rather than realize that men can also be victims of domestic abuse, just like what happened to Johnny Depp.

I don’t have a crystal ball, I can’t say how I think this will all end, or if it will ever really end. Every time I think this insane saga is coming to some sort of conclusion, I have been proven wrong when a new shocking development comes out. I don’t think this will be the last time I write about these two, though I wish very much that it will. Writing about this never feels good or enjoyable for me. It takes your mind to some dark places when you discover just how vicious one person can be towards another person, all for their own gain or just to satisfy their own inflated egos. However, if there’s anything I’ve tried to accomplish with my writing, fiction or non-fiction, it’s finding the truth between the lines and sharing it with readers to hopefully help them see things in a way they never thought they would.
