Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes: The Game That'll Ruin Your Relationship

There's something inherently fun about playing games together. Whether it's working as a team or competing against each other, games tend to bring people closer. Every now and again it has the potential to make people really frustrated with each other; a prime example being that one time I threw a Monopoly piece at a foreign exchange student, but that's a story for another time! Keep Talking and No One Explodes is one of those games that might just join the pantheon of awesome yet immensely frustrating games.

Released earlier this year, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes has a pretty simple concept. Played with either the Samsung Gear VR or the Oculus Rift, the game has two players. The first player is locked in a room with a ticking time bomb and the other player is the "expert" who has the manual on how to diffuse the bomb. The catch? The expert can't see the bomb so the two players have to talk through everything before the bomb goes off. It's like being in a tense action movie but with more panicking and equal amounts of nervous sweating. It's not like the maniacal designers at Steel Crate Games made it easy for you. First off, here's what the manual looks like.

You can have it in a PDF format, view it as a web page on the site, or print it out for extra realism. Besides the manual, the bombs themselves are procedurally generated which means it's a different bomb each and every time. It's actually pretty hilarious to watch other people struggle through the game as demonstrated by BuzzFeed when they asked couples to play it.

All in all, it looks like a pretty fun party game that, if anything, makes for a really good exercise in communication. While I did mention that this is played on the Gear VR and Oculus Rift, you can also play it on a standard monitor as well.

Now, I'm not saying that the Moviepilot staff should request a press copy and throw some kind of bomb diffusing party, but I'm not saying they shouldn't, either. Just throwing it out there.
