Seals and Bounty: The Bodyguard

I can't believe how she has been acting today about going back to work. You would think she was scared, or at least nervous about it. But no, she wants to jump right back into work like there is not a guy after her. She's completely insane. Unfortunately, he can't tell her what to do. She's not with him yet. But when all of this was over, he wanted to make her his.

I sat down on the couch in the living room after taking a shower to watch TV while Officer Chandler and Officer Rodriquez sat at the kitchen table, talking.

Rodriquez finally came over and set down in the recliner.

"There have been no leads at all on the guy. He must have been wearing gloves. There were no fingerprints on her clothes and no DNA. The flowers turned up fingerprints. One was hers, another was Kari's, and then the delivery guys. We checked out the delivery guy. He came in for questioning and he dropped off the flowers and went back to the shop. It all checked out. The flower shop has cameras, but the guy never looked at them. It was like he already knew where they were and paid in cash. The card only said 'have a great show," Rodriquez said.

"So, we basically have no leads at all. What do we do now?" I asked.

"The only thing we can do, we wait. And that waiting means she can go back to work tomorrow. We believe he will not make a move again until she does. He may even think that we are watching her too closely here and that he has a better chance at work. I know you don't want to hear any of this," Rodriquez replied.

"You're right. I don't want to put her in that kind of danger. But I understand it. If we are going to allow her to go back to work, then I need to make a phone call to my partners. I know that you guys will have detail there, which I am sure will be undercover, but I want my team to be there too," I stated.

"I understand, and I actually think it is a good idea," Rodriquez replied.

"I agree," Officer Chandler stated as he walked into the room and set on the love seat.

Mari had brought out two more blankets and pillows for both of the officers the night before. He had noticed that even though she felt safe; she was a little uncomfortable with a house full of men that had taken over her living room as a bedroom.

"Great! I am going to step outside for a few minutes and call my guys. I will go ahead and do the outside rounds while I am out there," I replied.

I walked outside, pulled out my cell phone, and called Kadon. I knew he would inform the other guys for me.

As I did the outside rounds, I filled Kadon in on what was going on with the case and what the plans were for tomorrow night. I want us to add as many of our staff as we could, but I also wanted him and the other four partners at the casino that were not on assignments that night. Luckily they all were off that night, but it would cause them to work a double. He knew since they were all ex-Navy Seals, long hours were not a problem. They were all used to long hours and sleepless days for days at a time. He also knew, though, that he would owe them all for this one.

He also knew that they would get the job done and they would protect her at all costs if they knew how he felt about her. The problem with that last thought was that he wasn't even sure how he felt about her, other than once this was over. He wanted to get to know her better, and he had to protect her.
