Waves crashed over the bow of their ship bound for Beirut.

Malden lit a cigarette, puffed, and watched the blue waves crest across the Mediterranean. On some mid-deck, Gregor undoubtedly regaled unexpecting tourists with wild tales of Siberia.

He let out a long drag, reveling in the sunlight.

Being alone was nothing new. He was engaged before the war, and alone since his ferry docked back in Portsmouth. Such were the times.

They would dock in four days and begin their expedition toward the Caucuses. Like Jesus wandering through the desert, Jacob could only hope for illumination, and not deception.

    Great character development for Malden on this one! Pity the poor sod in that respect, though!
