Malden lay in his dilapidated Whitechapel apartment, hoping the scotch would drown out Mrs. Rossly’s heavy footsteps above.

He tucked tomorrow's train and ferry tickets away in his journal. One ways? Arsehole.

It was a curious task. These rumors and tales surfaced occasionally, and he let himself foolishly hope this an adventure worthy of the penny dreadfuls. He was tired of senseless graverobbing.

The empty bottle rolled and shattered against the floor.

Instantly, Jacob was back in Flander’s trenches. He dove under the table and covered his head.

Luckily, it was only the shakes this time… and not the screams.
