Introduction
I was listening to "Masters Of War" by Bob Dylan and it just made me think of the state our world is in at the moment. This story is anything but hopeful and is not the sort of thing that I enjoy writing. It observes how evil so often triumphs because people allow it to exist in the name of fairness or due to complete apathy.
Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
The Business Model
Entrepreneur: "I think we are close to a perfect business model now"
Businessman: " Yes, by keeping these wars going, we have a great market for our weapons manufacturers, and we are making an absolute fortune from that. Not only that with the banks that we own and the government's backing on increasing interest rates, we are screwing so much more money out of the taxpayers. They are perfect cash cows, and they pay for the weapons as well and we skim off the profits"
Entrepreneur: "And when the war takes a break, we get the contracts to rebuild the stuff we have bombed to oblivion. We also tale the contracts to build and maintain refugee camps, it is a model that never stops giving and the taxpayer bears the total cost although the government says it comes out of their pocket but we know who is really paying"
Businessman: "Looking at figures, we could make a killing if we could start a nuclear war (excuse the pun), such a pity that Trump and Truss aren't still in charge, they would have really gone for it, our bank deposits would also go nuclear so to speak"
Entrepreneur: "If we push the nuclear option, we would probably need to build decent nuclear shelters and stock up on provisions. Would that be really worth it?"
Businessman: "But think of the money that we would make, that is all that matters. Think of the interest we'd make at the rates that our banks are now charging, we would be trillionaires, not billionaires, we could make ourselves gods, people love the rich, they worship and envy us, and some of them think that they might be like us one day, poor ignorant sods"
Entrepreneur: "Seriously, is money the only thing that matters to you? I want to be able to walk outside and breathe the air. I want to be rich, yes but I want to live, not just exist. I don't want to be stuck underground waiting out a nuclear winter for the rest of my life. Even one nuclear blast could devastate the whole earth, and given we are waiting for Yellowstone to blow as well we might not even have a planet left to live on. What use will our savings, investments, and fortunes be then? Money is no good if you have nowhere to spend it and nothing to spend it on"
Businessman: "Money is the world's god and religion. It is the only thing that matters to people. If they don't have it they die. Control of money and possession of it makes us gods too. Greed is good. We need to take every opportunity to make more money, and if pressing the red button is the way to do it, then in my opinion let's go for it"
Motions were put in place to encourage leaders of China, the USA, Russia, India, Israel, and the Arab States that Nuclear war was the only way forward.

A great commentary on something truly horrifying! The relation between war and capitalism kills me... It's something that I think devastates us all. Great work!!
Frightening. Very interesting.
Kalki is the tenth and final avatar of Vishnu/Krishna, in the Hindu Cycle of the Ages, the "Yugas", beginning with Satya Yuga and ending in our present miseries, the KALI YUGA. It is said Sri Bhagwan Kalki will ride out of Schamballa with a flaming sword (nuclear?) on a white steed (missile?). Foretold long ago, in an age when men will be like gods (technology), but have forgotten the principles of religious devotion. You remind me that it's been a long time since I've read the Bhagavad Gita. This music is a blessing. Best to you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1VjZuSONrI
Yep, the making money breed money only makes us loose sight of everything else. Good work Mike.
I wouldn't be surprised if this actually happens! Awesome story!
Chillingly--even if sardonically--on point.
Your points are very much on target. By the way, I love the picture!
