Switchable Eyes, Changeable Hearts
Nicolas Gainsborough-Ashburnham was not a man to be woken up lightly. Ever since he was a child, he had ignored the bells of his alarm and the yells of his mother, only getting up after a large fuss had been made. Even after getting out of bed, he was never exactly pleasant. Not that he was particularly amicable to be around in a good mood, but mornings always seemed to make everything a bit lesser in his continuously switched eyes.

Beyond the Stars
Nobody can a hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. That’s what they told us at the Space Force Academy at least. So, tell me why every time I go to bed, or when I spacewalk, I hear a scream, echoing throughout the reaches of space, haunting my very dreams. This last spacewalk it returned, like it had so many times before and I was shaken to my core. It was so clear, so close, my bones vibrated as it hit me. It had never done that before, and I feared our ship was in danger. If this scream could cause me to have a physical reaction, then what could it do to our ship?

The Neverending Train Journey
Aaron lived an ordinary life. He woke up every day and dressed in his usual plain shirt and simple blue jeans. He arrived at work at 9am on the dot, working through until 5pm. From there he would return home to cook an easy meal, ready to watch whatever TV show he had opted for that week. Of course, he would make time to see his friends and family at the weekends. But he always ensured that the day would end as he laid his head on his pillow, ready for 8 hours of peaceful sleep. This was Aaron’s usual life.

Blackbird Survivor
“Nobody can hear you scream in the vacuum of space - or so they say.” My big brother’s final words from our last conversation over the GalaWeb rattled around in my head as I hefted the body of one of my ship mates to the side of the cargo bay. We had been discussing my latest decision to “shack up with the military” as he had so eloquently put it. I thought about my retort I had given so I didn’t have to think about the dead body I was placing next to the six others.

Expecting Burnout
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. John Henry chuckled when Mr. Kim recited this long-forgotten adage. It was tossed away with earthly phrases like 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks' or 'what goes up must come down' or, my favorite, 'the Sky's the limit.'

Shiftless
I couldn’t wait to clock off and go out with my friend. The last couple was still eating, and I was cleaning up another table when my phone vibrated in my pocket. I swatted the hair out of my face and went to grab my phone from my pocket, but someone’s hands were in the way. I tried to move, but they held me still. Great, that’s why I hated this job. I reached for the spray, but he held me tight enough that I couldn’t get enough wiggle room to grab the spray to defend myself.
