Nothing To Lose Part 5
The office was quiet. Several of the investigators were at their desks. The only noises were the occasional sounds of phones ringing. Outside his office window, it was raining harder than Jonas had ever seen. He could barely see the squad cars parked in the open lot it came down so furiously. Sitting there, staring at the rain, he was deep in thought. He remembered the Great Flood of the 1990s, and similarities were there.

Cosmo
βCosmo.. Your name is - Cosmoβ¦β Dirty, viscous, sticky air. Sand flying in the wind. Everything seems yellow. Everything IS yellow. Is that the thought that you wanted to die with?Β Leaving you in the mirage of the melting asphalt, the further I go, the more of a memory you become. Real. Ever real. Youβve never been as real as you are now, being dead. Nebraska. Alaska. Nevada. Thrown everywhere by life.Β Never a home to come to, only a house. I found you in Reno, your head in the cloud, your mind electric from snow. A box of pills rattling in your purse, waiting to be used for the last time, in the room upstairs. Once and for all, end it. Identical mascara streaks on your cheeks like a personal camo, βpretending to be a regular girl, but not!β

Deadly Last Call
The neon sign outside The Final Pour, a bar located in Hartford, flickered like a dying heartbeat, casting red shadows across the rain-slicked sidewalk. Detective Lena Vargas pushed through the door just after midnight, the air thick with the ghosts of spilled whiskey and cigarette smoke that never quite left the place. The bar was empty now, chairs upturned on tables, the jukebox silent. Only the body remained, sprawled behind the counter in a pool of dark blood that had already begun to congeal.

Ego Sum Pt. 3
Read Pt. 2 Here Marion was stopped as he stepped into work, being given a slip of paper as soon as his feet crossed into the building. Shannon didnβt say a single word as she passed over the paper, not even smiling at him. Her face was terribly blank, nothing being her eyes - just a deep, dark abyss.
