Drowning your regrets won't heal you
This is an excerpt from my novel, Moonchildren. You can read more here. _________________ Everyone wants to feel like they mean something. Even if you believe that humans are all born for no reason, and that life has no meaning, nobody wants to spend their entire lives alone. Some insist they prefer isolation, that other people are too much effort and time. Some insist it’s safer or more comfortable to be alone. Maybe this is true. Even if someone spends their entire life in solitude, they deserve to feel like their existence means something.

A Mother's Dark Secret
"Oh, God, please forgive me," he uttered weakly, struggling to catch his breath. His body trembled uncontrollably, and his arms and legs convulsed with spasms. His chest heaved as his lungs labored to draw in air. Coughing and spitting phlegm onto the floor, his discomfort was exacerbated by the catheter inserted to assist with his urination.

He's The One
Nine years ago, amid the constant scroll of my social media feed—a blur of vacation photos, political rants, and birthday shout-outs—a simple conversation popped up on my feed. It was just a short conversation, intriguing and serendipitous, sent by someone who was a friend of a friend. The sender, Phil, had said simply a now forgotten phrase, but the intellect was apparent from just a couple of sentences.

My Passion and Success with Women
I enjoy pursuing relationships with women, but I find it challenging to initiate conversations or express my feelings towards them. However, I've noticed that by simply snapping my fingers, women are drawn to me, like ants to sugar. It's fascinating how women are attracted to four qualities in a man: good looks, intelligence, wealth, and talent. Fortunately, I possess all of these qualities. I am handsome, highly intelligent, and considered the most brilliant student in my class. Additionally, my father holds a managerial position in a prominent company, and my mother is a nurse at a renowned hospital in Nigeria, which has contributed to my wealth. Moreover, I have impressive skills in dancing, singing, and being a talented football striker.

Adoring the Darkness
The bioluminescent moss lining the alley walls pulsed with a soft green glow, casting playful shadows that danced across Halina's face. She weaved through Lala's labyrinthine passageways with an ease born of countless childhood explorations. These forgotten corners, tucked away from the main arteries of the city, were her own private domain, a world of secrets whispered by the wind and stories etched into the ancient stones. But tonight, a new purpose fueled her steps. The usual spark of curiosity in her eyes was tinged with a desperate urgency. Months of whispered suspicions and stolen glances at the luminous insignia adorning the city elders' cloaks had coalesced into a burning certainty. Those cryptic symbols, radiating an otherworldly light unlike anything found in Lala's perpetual twilight, held a secret. A secret about the forbidden sun, a celestial entity shrouded in myth and shrouded from sight by the towering obsidian wall that encircled their entire city.

The Statue
Juan didn't feel like he was obsessive. He just recognised that he got comfort from watching her when he was away from her during the day. That if he wasn't able to return to view her during his breaks, he would feel unsettled and nervous. It never occurred to him that what he was doing was wrong. He was very much of the school of "What they don't know, won't hurt them."

Le Marié
Chris sits in his car parked outside of the Le Marie Café. His heart was racing and he was very nervous. Oh boy, how is this gonna play out? Chris’ thought to himself. On one hand she could say yes and I’ll be as happy as my brother with French fries, on the other hand she could say no and I’ll be stuck looking like the biggest idiot on the planet. Suddenly Chris’ phone started to vibrate. It was a text message from his girlfriend Harmony. “I’m 5 mins away” the message read. At the site of this Chris undid his seatbelt and got out of his car.
