A Deck Of Cards

Could A Tarot Deck Change You Life.

There were twenty two houses in her road and her house was number one. She lived alone, kept herself to herself, but helped others when she had the time and inclination. She had never been inclined to share her life with another, she loved to have quiet and be able to decide what she would do.

She never had to work due to a legacy from her parents who were no longer on this mortal plane, although she chatted with them every day, though an observer would assume she was talking to herself.

She employed a cleaner and a gardener / handyman so her house was always well presented, and she had two cats as well. She thought cats were magical creatures who gave her a connection to mystical dimensions. She dabbled with crystals and herbs and was seen as a harmless eccentric by her neighbours.

Her name was Mary but if anyone asked her name it was Celene. She had chosen this when she had seen a beautiful Tarot Card deck in a small out of the way esoteric shop on a day visit to York. The first card that slipped out of the deck was “The Moon”, the card was beautiful and Mary saw herself as a Moon Goddess, Celene.

The deck came with a small book and she found that the major cards (the “Major Arcana”) numbered twenty two, the same number of the houses in her road, a Tarot coincidence. The first slight gripe was that Mary / Celene lived in number one and The Tarot Moon was number eighteen but that was by the way, she had chosen her name and aligned herself.

Looking at the deck she would if any other Major Arcana would align with her neighbours. She then realised how insular she had become, barely saying hello to the people in her road, but this was modern times, no one spoke to anyone unless they were forced to.

She looked at the cards and started to see her neighbours there. The Empress, The Devil and The Sun were all definitely there in her road, she may actually map a card for every neighbour. She then thought that she would try a three card spread described in her book to decide what to do next.

Then she thought, I wonder if the card reading can tell me how I can get to properly know my neighbours. Again, unusually the three cards she drew were all from the 22 Major Arcana despite there being 58 Minor Arcana cards. Celene felt something was stirring in the ether.

Her first card was The Moon, the card she had identified with herself, but it was reversed. The overall meaning of this according to her book is the release of fear, repressed emotion and inner confusion. From this Celene thought that must mean I should be fine going to speak to my neighbours, maybe take a small gift or offer a cup of tea.

The second Major Arcana card was The Sun (Upright) , and the key word meanings in the book stated “Positivity, fun, warmth, success, vitality” just like the gay she had sort of aligned with the Sun, but these now applied to whatever she was going to do, but implied nothing but good if she actually did this.

Celene was getting excited but a little nervous, The Tarot was telling her to go out and meet her neighbours.

The final card was The Wheel of Fortune and Celene’s book stated “Good luck, karma, life cycles, destiny, a turning point” , a turning point amid more good omens.

Celene had no doubt she was going to meet her neighbours.
