INGREDIENTS

*500g of all purpose flour

*200g of granulated sugar

*50g of margarine

*20g of active yeast

*4g of salt

*1 piece of egg

*1cup of evaporated milk

*1tbs of flavor

*Oil for frying

Note: This recipe should give 13pieces of doughnuts. If you want more than that then double or triple the recipe depending on how many pieces you want.

PROCEDURE

STEP ONE

*Measure flour, sugar, margarine, yeast and salt into a bowl and mix .

TIP: The flour should be sieved before use.

STEP TWO

*Break an egg into the mixture, add milk, flavor and water into it and mix altogether and combine to form a dough. Make sure everything is well incorporated.

STEP THREE

*Tip the dough on a surface covered with flour. Rub your palms with flour and begin to knead the dough. Continue to rub your palms with flour till you are done kneading in order to avoid the dough sticking to your palms and to ensure easy kneading.

TIPS: The dough should be well kneaded for about 30mins or more.

Once the dough becomes very smooth and stretchy and no longer stick to your palm then it is well kneaded.

STEP FOUR

* Roll out the dough and cut into balls of desired sizes. Place the balls on a surface covered with flour to avoid them sticky to the surface. Ensure the balls maintain a few distance away from one another. Once you are done placing them on the surface, cover the balls to allow them rise.

TIPS: Leave them covered for an hour before frying.

STEP FIVE

*Once it is 5minutes to an hour begin to heat your oil at a medium heat. After 5mintes begin to fry the doughnuts in batches, 3 at a time depending on the size of your pan. Once the bottom is golden brown flip the top into the oil. Remove once both sides are golden brown.

HOW TO SERVE

Doughnuts are best served when hot fluffy and most especially when glazed.

They go very well with chilled juice.

NOTE: Your fillings can be anything you want. Chocolate, Lotus, Peanut butter, Strawberry and jam

You can also coat with sugar, powdered milk and so on.
