I’m a Southern girl at heart.

Peaches play a huge role in my baking and cooking journey. Most of all, I love making different versions of peach cobbler, adding them to my smoothies, and cooking with my proteins.

This summer fruit with velvet skin with a sweet to sour taste and juicy yellowish core has two varieties to indulge and savor—semi-freestone, which the flesh separates out with little effort, and freestone peaches, which easily separate from the pit.

Both types of peaches are rich sources of multiple vitamins and minerals like magnesium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, and copper. The summer fruit is rich in carotenoids, which are compounds with benefits to promote positive health.

The name Peaches is derived from the Latin name, Prunus persica. Peaches are native to South Asia and China. They belong to the same family as plums and cherries. China is one of the largest exporters and producers of peaches.

Both peach and its flower extract were commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat digestive disorders. According to Healthline, a study showed peach flower extract is made from the flowers consumed in Korea.

I appreciate peaches for being an asset for the betterment of my health. Discover below the important role peaches have in your daily life routine.

According to Organic Facts, a research study showed carotenoids, lutein, and zeaxanthin found in peaches reduce the risk of cataracts.

Peaches aid in healthy digestion.

Peaches are considered an alkaline food. Not only are peaches quick and tasty while on the go, but they’re also great for healthy and regular bowel movements. Peaches help get rid of toxic waste from the intestines, preventing abdominal disorders.

Varieties of peaches are high in fiber, which protects the gut from health complications like diarrhea, hemorrhoids, ulcers, and gastrointestinal disorders. The sweet nectar of this fruit aids in dissolution and bladder stones.

Stayed up late to study for finals? Get rid of your dark circles with sweet peaches! The flavonoids, vitamins, and minerals fight off dead cells, hydrate skin, and rejuvenate skin cells. The compounds found in peaches promote faster cell recovery from skin problems like blemishes.

According to Healthline, an animal research study showed compounds in peach flower extract can limit the growth of non-cancerous skin tumors. A study with postmenopausal women who ate peaches daily had a 41 percent lower risk of breast cancer.

Consider the difference in nutrients...

Peaches have many benefits for all ages. Prior to selecting a peach of choice, you should know these facts:
