In 1892, he was a student at Stanford University in the United States.

He has no relatives. He cannot even afford to pay his tuition fee.

He and one of his close friends come to a conclusion.

It was decided to organize a concert in the college with a famous musician to raise funds for their studies.

For that reason, they met and asked for a date with lgnacy Jan Paderewski, a pianist from Poland who became famous in the United States and all over the world at that time.

His manager came and said, "You have to give him $2000," and they happily agreed.

Planning for Big Music concert

They worked day and night for the show, thinking that Paderewski's arrival would make the show a big success.

The day came for the event. Unexpectedly, there were some other important events in the city that day, so the tickets did not sell as expected. Therefore, the arena is not full. How will it be for these people who organized the festival with great effort?

They strengthened their hearts and met Paderewski and told him what had happened. They told him that the show could be cancelled as the tickets were not sold.

But Paderewski refuses "I will finish the show as planned," he says.

Helping Heart

They meet him after the show ends, give him the total collected amount of $1,600, and tell him, "We'll definitely give you a check for the balance amount in a few days, and we'll pay the full amount as soon as possible." They gave him the money and the check, begging them, "Take it with a big heart."

On receiving the check, Paderewski tore it up, gave them the amount they had paid, and said, "Don't pay me what you owe me. I discount it. Keep this money and pay for your studies," he says.

They thank him with tearful eyes.

Knowing that the students are struggling to even pay the rent for the concert, Paderewski ends up paying for it himself.

Paderewski was very rich. According to him, it is a normal amount. But the incident brought out the humanity in him.

From Struggle to Strength

Many years have passed.

Paderewski rose to prominence over time and, at one point, became the Prime Minister of Poland.

He was a great leader and governed well. But unfortunately, that was the period when the First World War. Poland was devastated by the war. By the end of the war, people had lost everything and were living in poverty. Famine prevailed everywhere.

It was the year 1919.

How to deal with the situation To whom would he turn for help for his millions of hungry people? Paderewski is distraught.

Finally, he approached the American Relief Administration (ARA). Its president was Herbert Hoover.

(He later became the 31st President of the United States.)

The United States agreed to help Poland at the request of Paderewski. Over the next few days, thousands of metric ton of food grains and groceries were shipped from the United States to Poland.

It saved about 1.5 million Poles from starvation.

The Polish people survived disaster and famine.

 Paderewski sighed in relief.

The Transformative Power of Helping Others

Herbert Hoover(wikipedia)

Paderewski wanted to personally thank the head of the American Relief Administration for sending metric ton of food to his people and saving them from starvation.

Paderewski met Herbert Hoover in person and tearfully thanked him.

To which Hoover says, "No, no, no." Mr. Prime Minister, You should not thank me. I have returned the favor you have shown me.

Do you remember 25 years ago when you helped two college students pay their fees by doing your show for free? "I was one of those students,"

Paderewski hugs him with tears in his eyes.

No one can tell when time will place whom and where.

Have you seen how a little help for an individual became a great help for a nation?

What you sow in this world, you will reap many times over.

Because... seeds never sleep even if the sower sleeps.
