Italian sea salt

We all know how we can go moths without eating bread, then out of nowhere we get one slice with butter and go on a bread and butter rampage for a strong week. Well you will not even need the butter with the recipe, and I can almost guarantee you will not be able to stop after a week. This is one of my favourite recipes. After testing out many different ways of making this bread I have finally found a perfect combination of ingredients to make it the perfect mix of crunchy, moist, cheesy and delicious in one simple recipe. Be sure to learn a new bread making skill or update your old recipe, or simply add a recipe

This serves about 8 people:

Ingredients

- Teaspoon olive oil

- .5 – 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 tablespoon course sea salt

- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

For the Dough

- 3 cups all-purpose flour

- 1.5 teaspoons instant yeast

- 1.5 teaspoon white sugar

- .5 teaspoon table salt

- 1 ¼ cup warm milk – whole milk is best, I use skim milk sometimes

- ¼ cup olive oil

For the filling

- 1 cup mozzarella cheese

- 1 cup cheddar cheese

- 1 large egg

Directions

1. Start with making the dough – mix together flour, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl

2. In a separate bowl add salt, oil, and the warm milk. Mix it all together, don’t over-do it, make sure the milk is still somewhat warm for the next step

3. Pour the we mixture into the flour mixture and combine

4. Use extra flour to knead dough, place it on floured surface and add as needed

5. Oil a glass bowl and use a cloth to cover it and let it rise for 30 minutes

Now make the Filling

1. Mix the cheeses and egg. Combine until well mixed, it almost takes a creamy texture.

Finishing the bread

1. Prepare a lightly floured surface for the dough after the 30 mins has passed

2. Knead ½ the tablespoon of Italian seasoning into the dough, only knead it lightly a couple times or the dough will become too dense

3. Roll out the dough, not too thin.

4. Put the filling in any area of the dough, stuff it in the dough, place it on the edges and fold the bread over (almost like a stuffed crust), sprinkle some extra cheese on top if you please

5. On top sprinkle the tablespoon of sea salt and the remining half tablespoon Italian seasoning

6. Then let the dough rise again, covered with a cloth, with the filling for 30 minutes

7. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

8. Once it has risen place in oven for about 15 – 20 minutes, or until the filling begins to bubble and bread has a golden color.

9. Let it cool a little then enjoy!

You can freeze it for up to a month or enjoy for up to a week after baking if left out.

This is an amazing recipe my whole family enjoys. It’s good for a snack, a part of dinner, a family event, or simply just to have around the house. During quarantine what better way to spend your time than baking new recipes. There are many more to come from, if you enjoyed this keep an eye out for more of my cooking stories, I make food from a range of dinners to baked goods. Mostly easy simple recipes that do not require many ingredients, so they are fun to follow and taste amazing.
