The Best Deli Around

Everyone says that the deli in their town is the greatest, but I am here to give this one all the awards for best deli and its not even in my town! Growing up, I had a deli in my neighborhood that I went to all the time. I have fallen in love with this new one because of all the special offers. Home Town Hero’s has some of the most impressive and creative sandwich ideas I have ever seen. I cannot tell you how many times a friend has texted me asking if I wanted to get a hero from there and every time I was asked I can say that I was thinking about one of their sandwiches. Let's take a look at some of Home Town Hero’s most appetizing offers.

Let's start with the most important meal of the day, breakfast. Like any deli, Home Town has egg sandwiches that can include cheese, bacon, or sausage, and can be on a roll or a hero. If you are really hungry, you can get the Hungry man that includes bacon, sausage, 3 eggs, and cheese on a hero. Now that's a lot of food. My personal choice would have to be the bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll with avocado. I am all about the extra when it comes to my food and this addition of avocado hits the spot first thing in the morning. But maybe you’re not a morning person, so let's look at some special lunch sandwiches.

Imagine you just woke up on a Saturday after a long night out with some coworkers. It’s 10:30 A. M. and by the time you get showered and dressed it will be time for lunch. Let’s start out with an appetizer of cheesy loaded tots. The name gives nothing to the imagination but it doesn’t have too. Starting your meal with tater tots covered in melted American cheese and topped with bits of bacon is mouth watering in its own right. Or maybe you want something fried because you are American, and we fry everything. Their fried Mac and Cheese Bites are delicious and comes with a spicy Ketchup. Just thinking about these are making me hungry. But, what about the main course?

Keeping on the fry everything train, let’s look at the Goomba. This sandwich only has a few ingredients but it doesn’t need much to be this delicious. You start out with chicken cutlets on a hero roll. I know what you are thinking. This is just a chicken parmigiana hero and you are kind of right. The next item on this sandwich are mozzarella sticks. Just a little out of left field with this choice but it goes well on this sandwich. Top with some marinara sauce and your eyes will get bigger than your stomach. If you liked that twist, then you will love what they did with the Instagram Mac Attack. First, they have the original Mac Attack which has chicken cutlet, macaroni and cheese, and bacon. That alone makes me want to order now but to make that even better, Hometown added hot sauce, ranch and mozzarella cheese. Now how can you say no to that!?

These all sound delicious but you just woke up after a long drinking at the bar so maybe keeping thing traditional is the way to go. In that case, you may be looking at the Superclub which has roast beef, turkey, ham, crispy bacon, and American cheese. You can’t go wrong with that. Roast beef sounding good? Try the Manhattan which has roast beef, mozzarella cheese and is on garlic bread. To top it off you can choose between gravy and a Dijon horseradish sauce to have on it or on the side. And then there's my personal favorite, the Corned Beef Reuben, containing grilled corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and topped with Russian dressing. Kind of hard to say no to any of these sandwiches but this one the most.

Now, if only there was a way to order enough of this food for an event (post covid of course) so that everyone could enjoy this food. But wait, Hometown has their own catering menu! You can order trays of chicken tenders, French fries, or maybe you liked those fried mac and cheese bites. Try getting one of those trays and a three- or six-foot hero along with some home-made potato salad. That will make your next super bowl party a hit. Let's say we can have large events in the future, hopefully soon, and you need a lot of food. Their combo platters can feed as much as 40 people and you won't have to go anywhere else to order food for your event! Talk about convenient.

How can you not think about Hometown Heros when you feel like have a sandwich? I recommend ordering online or over the phone because even though it's a nice place to go to, the line can be out the door and I don’t know anyone who wants to wait outside online for food. This place is very popular in the community with their great food and because they support the local police department. Such great people working there too, its hard not to want to go there for the food and want them to succeed as a business.
