The Meatless Wonders
What was the best part of Superbowl Sunday? An entire day of shameless snacking, judging commercials, and watching the puppy bowl.

We ended 2020 with surf and turf and an evening gaming with members of our safe six. Way back in the before, on March 14, 2020, we'd decided that the eight of us would be our safe group. And none of us would see other people without masks except in very special circumstances and that when that happened, we'd quarantine and warn the others in our group.

The whole thing started as a fluke. A dinner with my girlfriend at Nando’s gone wrong. Eight hours in the Georgetown University Hospital, two Xrays, a tube shoved up my nose, and a pint of Halotop later led me to sware off meat for a few days. I’ll spare you the details of what happened, but know this; those days turned into weeks and weeks into months.

Are you a vegetarian or interested in looking for suggestions on how to include proteins in your diet? Is it safe to say you're often met with disbelief and replies such as, "Why don't you just eat eggs"? Growing up I never once ate a vegetable. Granted, my mother couldn’t cook so my introduction to vegetables consisted of a frozen block of welfare rations thrown into a boiling pot of water. I was repulsed by the rubbery texture and lack of seasonings to counteract the freezer burn so, quite honestly, I just assumed that this is what vegetables tasted like. And never would I subject myself to such gag-inducing torture ever again.
Krista SmithPublished 4 years ago in FeastWhy be Vegetarian
After Reading “the omnivore's dilemma” by Michael Pollan, the book opened my eye to such a big subject. We, as human beings, have a long history on this planet. We may not know how we started on this planet, but we know that we did all that we could to survive and live for another day. We had to kill other animals to eat and survive. However, after a very long time using the method of killing to live, we finally found another source of food that is good enough to keep us alive and healthy. That source is farming. We somehow learned how to plant seeds and get vegetables and fruits that can give us our need for protein and vitamins to live. With that said so, people should adopt a vegetarian diet because vegetarian food is better for the body, easier to have, and will save animals' life.

Food is so much more than just food in our family. Food is a time where we sit each evening and say grace, spend quality time and converse about our day. Food is nostalgia: holidays, celebrations and events - they all revolve around food.

Talia DevoraPublished 4 years ago in FeastWhy I became a vegetarian
So this is my answer. There are plenty of reasons why someone is a vegetarian or vegan. For some, it's the brutality of the meat industry and the cruel treatment of animals. Others might be raised in a culture in which the consumption of meat is against their beliefs. And some are simply curious about it.
