A brand new year is upon us and with it comes many opportunities to improve our lives. Some people decide to go on a diet, others want to lose weight, some want to improve their social life, and others want to change their sleeping habits. It's never easy deciding what your New Year's resolution should be, but I have a unique idea that could hopefully help you discover the change you want to see the most in your life in the coming year.

I propose we all resolve to become vegan

Now, for those of you who are perhaps thinking that veganism is a dietary choice and nothing more, allow me to convince you otherwise. Being vegan isn't about what you eat; it's about what you don't eat – animal products. This can be anything from leather to fur to eggs to dairy. If one of these products makes itself known in your life in any way, shape or form, it's time to take a conscious decision and remember what veganism stands for: zero animals sacrificed for our benefit.

And, for those of you who are already 100% vegan and want to continue spreading the vegan lifestyle, I propose we all resolve to become vegan-exclusive.

Why Veganism?

Let's be honest, we're all aware that the treatment of animals is a controversial topic. After all, who doesn't feel compassion when they see an adorable, furry animal curled up on the sofa? Unfortunately, when it comes to factory farming, many individuals neglect their own intuition in favor of what they think is right.

Thankfully, there's a solution that doesn't involve you having to make a choice between your ethics and your wallet. The key is understanding what makes veganism so attractive to individuals like you who already want to be doing the right thing. And, dare I say, what makes veganism so attractive is that it's the right thing to do for the animals!

By eliminating animal products from your diet, you will not only be doing the environment a favor, you will also be ensuring that none of these creatures are treated with anything less than the utmost care and consideration.

What does veganism mean for the animals?

When we think about the treatment of animals in the context of veganism, it's important to understand what this actually means for the animals. To put it simply, veganism means that no animals are harmed or killed for the purpose of what you are eating or wearing. The zero-tolerance policy towards animal products means that if you discover that one of your favorite fashion brands or eateries uses leather or fur, you will have to decide whether you want to continue eating or wearing that brand or shop.

Although this may seem obvious, it's worth repeating: veganism doesn't mean that you have to give up your favorite foods, only that you can't consume animal products. For those of you who are concerned about the welfare of animals, this may be a decision that you have to make, even if it's not one you want to. But, at least you will be able to rest assured that you are not causing any harm through your food choices.

Becoming vegan-exclusive

Now, some of you may be wondering, if I'm already vegan, why would I want to go an entire year without eating animals? Well, aside from the moral implications that come with the decision to go vegan, some vegans see the lack of variety in their diet as unnecessary torture. So, to them, going vegan for a whole year simply means that they will eat what they want and when they want. There's no need to deprive themselves of favorite foods!

To truly embrace the vegan lifestyle, you may want to consider going an entire year without eating any animal products. However, this is completely up to you and what makes you happy. Some vegans choose to go on a dietetic journey in order to get all the nutrients that they need. So, if this is something that appeals to you, then by all means, go vegan-exclusive for a year – it's up to you!

A Year Of Veganism

Now that we've established the basics of what veganism is and why you may want to consider going vegan, it's time for us to talk about how we can make the process easier. If you're looking to explore the lifestyle change further, I recommend that you look into adopting a vegan diet. Now, this may be easier said than done, as going vegan entails giving up some of your favorite foods, but it's also the key to living your life to the fullest. And who knows – perhaps discovering a new kind of food may even become a hobby of yours.

Giving up dairy, wheat, and alcohol may be difficult.Even some people can find it challenging. But, after all, isn't change always hard? The thing about challenges is that they make us stronger. So, if giving up these products is something that you feel motivated to do, then by all means, put your mind to it and get to work. It's quite possible that by the end of the year, you won't miss a thing. And, who knows, maybe you'll even discover a newfound love for cooking.

You may wonder how a vegan diet will affect your health. While some vegans choose to adopt a healthy lifestyle and incorporate a vegan diet into their routine, others see it as a way of life that may not be for everybody. If you have any medical conditions, or if you take any medications, you should consult your physician before adopting a vegan diet. However, many medical experts and doctors agree that a vegan diet is very healthy for the human body.

So, my advise is to consult with your physician and see what they have to say about adopting a vegan diet. You may want to consider asking them about the nutritional value of vegan food and whether it's healthy or not. If this is a decision that you want to make and you feel as if your doctor supports it, then by all means, go vegan!

The Pros And Cons Of Going Vegan

In the interest of providing you with all the information you need to make the right decision, here are the advantages and disadvantages of going vegan.

Advantages:

  • Some vegan diets are very affordable and can be contained in any household.

  • A vegan diet can be challenging to maintain, especially if you want to lose weight.

Disadvantages:

  • Some vegans believe that consuming dairy, wheat, and alcohol is essential for a good living.
  • Going vegan means giving up some of your favorite foods, including dairy, wheat, and alcohol.
  • A dietary change like this is likely to make you hungry, especially if you are not used to eating a mostly plant-based diet.
  • You may find it more difficult to obtain some of the nutrients you need if you decide to go vegan.
  • Eating vegan food is likely to become boring after a while.
  • A vegan diet restricts your diet choices, which may limit your personal development.

  • The Takeaway

Is going vegan worth it? While it may seem obvious that the answer is yes, let's remember that this decision is completely up to you. You may find that this decision will change your life for the better, especially if you want to live a healthier lifestyle.

However, if this is not something that appeals to you, then perhaps consider exploring other options. Some people prefer a carnivorous or omnivorous diet, which may be more suitable for your tastes. You may find that changing your diet to accommodate your taste buds will help you to discover new foods that you enjoy and that may be healthy for you. Who knows – perhaps you'll even discover a newfound love for eating eggs, dairy, and wheat.
