The weather around here is rainy and cold, so I've been looking for some warming recipes. I've found these Jamaican recipes that are perfect for a cozy night at home. Here is what I've came across:

Jerk chicken

Jerk chicken is a popular Jamaican dish that's made with chicken, spices and herbs. It is often served with rice and peas in the Caribbean region. The word "Jerk" refers to the process of smoking meat over wood coals or wood smoke, which gives it its distinct flavor. Jerk chicken can be made in a variety of ways; some use different types of marinades or rubs while others use no marinade at all!

Jamaican curry chicken recipes are also common in Jamaican cuisine; these dishes usually contain curry powder along with other seasonings such as garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne pepper (or hot peppers). Some people prefer making their own curry blends while others buy them premade from supermarkets or specialty stores like Progressive.

Curry chicken with potatoes and carrots

In a large saucepan or wok, add the curry powder and oil. Add the onions and garlic, then cook until they are golden brown.

Add the chicken pieces, potatoes and carrots, tomatoes (chopped), water and salt to taste; mix well. Cover with a lid then cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until done.

I came across this recipe on tiktok that looks simple enough, take a look and comment below what you think:

Curry shrimp

Shrimp are small, crustacean-like creatures that can be found in many tropical and subtropical waters. They have a firm white meat and are often prepared with a variety of sauces, spices and vegetables to enhance the flavor of their flesh. Curry powder is a blend of ground spices used to make curries; it's typically made up of turmeric (a yellow spice), coriander seeds or powder (which lends it its distinct yellow color), cumin seeds or powder (which gives curry its earthy taste), ginger root and fenugreek leaves among other things depending on what kind of dish you're making with your curry powder!

Curry shrimp is one example where shrimp is cooked with this mixture in order to add flavor while keeping them moist during cooking time so they don't become tough or chewy when cooked at high temperatures like some other seafoods would become under similar conditions.

Here are two videos that I also found on tiktok about how to cook curry shrimp, plus I think it is beginner friendly, what do you think?

Coconut brown rice and peas

This is a great way to use up leftover rice, and it's easy to make.

Brown the chicken in olive oil and butter (or coconut oil) on medium-high heat until golden brown.

Add the onions, carrots, peas and garlic; cook for 3 minutes or until onion is translucent but not browned.

Stir in curry powder, thyme leaves and salt; cook for 1 minute more before adding coconut milk and water - stir well to combine all ingredients together evenly so that there aren't clumps of spice sitting on top of your dish! Cover with lid then turn heat down slightly so that everything simmers nicely together for 20-25 minutes - this will allow time for all flavours to meld together nicely without burning off any excess liquid which may otherwise happen if left uncovered during cooking time due to high temperatures coming from stovetop burners underneath pot/pan containing ingredients while they're cooking away happily away :) Once cooked throughly remove pan from heat source then serve immediately over steaming hot brown rice topped generously with fresh parsley leaves :)

Jamaican beef patties

Jamaican beef patties are a popular street food in Jamaica. It's made with ground beef, onion and spices. The filling is stuffed into a crust of flour dough before baking or frying it until golden brown on both sides.

The taste of these delicious pastries will make your mouth water! Some Jamaicans eat their patty with ketchup but others like to have theirs with coleslaw, potato salad or french fries. If you want to learn how to make them at home then follow this easy recipe:
