Healthy eating is something that should be incorporated into one's everyday lifestyle, but it can be difficult for many people to maintain consistent diets. A craving for candy, soda, or anything with copious amounts of sugar can hit anytime, and while it's ok to indulge every now and again, one should avoid processed sugars. One step to keeping a healthy diet is replacing unhealthy sweets with wholesome snacks and beverages that can satisfy the sugar craving.

Plant-Based Shakes

You can buy a healthy, plant-based shake from your local grocery store, or you can buy the ingredients and make it yourself. A plant-based shake can have as many vegetables and fruits as you wish, but it's wise to include green vegetables in the mix for their vitamins and minerals. If you decide that your shake needs protein, add a supplement to it. Your high impact plant protein shake can give you nutrients that last the whole day, so it works as a beverage for any meal.

Fruits

One can never go wrong with simple fruits as a snack. A banana has plenty of potassium and it also tastes great. Berries are a quintessential healthy snack renowned for their portability, ease of consumption, and tastiness. Carry a small bag of fruits with you on your daily commute to have something to snack on during the day. Unlike junk food, by having a healthy snack such as fruit, you'll satisfy your sweets craving and feel nourished at the same time.

Protein Bars

Protein bars are a wonderful snack option for satisfying your sweet tooth and getting your protein on the go. The best part of these scrumptious snacks is that they rarely have much sugar at all, so don't be surprised if you find that one has three grams of sugar. They come in many delicious flavors such as chocolate chip cookie dough and birthday cake. Not only will you feel great after eating one of these delicious concoctions, but you'll also get your sweet craving out of the way.

Dark Chocolate

Yes, you read that right—you can have dark chocolate as a snack! Dark chocolate is its own breed of sweet candy in that compared to its milky counterpart, it keeps much of the antioxidants it's known for. So don't feel guilty about indulging in a dark chocolate bar; it's a powerful sweet snack that can supplement your healthy eating. Carry a bar with you during your daily routine or any candy such as Mounds or York peppermint patties for an extra kick of flavor.

Muffins With Fruit

Muffins are always great to have at any time of the day, and when they're jam-packed (pun intended) with fruit, it's even better. There are a multitude of options for one to pick from, such as blueberry, banana nut, pumpkin, or apple cinnamon. Haven't found your favorite flavor in-store? You need not worry because you can make your own at home and add as many or as few fruits as you'd like.

Yogurt

Yogurt is a foolproof healthy snack that's suitable for any time of the day. When you go grocery shopping, find yogurts that contain fruit in them for an extra dose of healthy sweetness. If you'd rather make it yourself, buy plain yogurt and add some fruit pieces to it for some natural flavor. No matter which way you eat yogurt, you'll be getting calcium, vitamin D, and the benefits of fruit all in one package.

Overnight Oats

It doesn't get more delicious than a jar of homemade overnight oats. It's the ultimate in customizable healthy food because it can have as many or as few ingredients as one pleases. What each unique combination has in common, though, are rolled oats, any milk of your choosing, plain yogurt, and sometimes chia seeds so your oatmeal isn't oversaturated. Top it off with bananas, berries, nuts, peanut butter, coconut—the possibilities are endless.

A healthy diet is not synonymous with giving up sweets forever. Many delicious sweet snacks exist out there to satisfy your sweet tooth while keeping your healthy eating in check, so try any of these options out.
