Tacos Al Pastor - Sol Cocina Mexicana

If you are visiting the area and looking for Authentic Mexican Food then you are going to want to swing by Sol Cocina Mexicana. The best Authentic Mexican Food in Pawleys Island, SC.

If you have been following our social accounts you probably know by now that we love Mexican food. We travel to the Yucatan region, in particular, all the time. So to find Tacos Al Pastor here is Pawleys Island, SC was, well you could say, it was an answer to prayer. Chef Armando Cobian and his wife Chef Esmeralda Cobian are from Oaxaca, Mexico and really brought the Authentic Mexican Restaurant experience to Pawleys. The Tacos Al Pastor, made with an achiote paste, onion and pineapple is served with fresh cilantro, red onion and lime on the side. A made from scratch dressing that is refreshing to say the least. Along with the real shining star, the homemade corn tortillas! So delicious!!

The shrimp quesadilla was delicious and consisted of shrimp, of course, and a poblano corn mixture with Oaxaca cheese. A little different from Mozzarella in firmness, if I had to compare. The small salad was a cute garnish and tasted just as good as it looks. There is a citrus dressing on here. I should have asked exactly what the ingredients were. If you find out let us know in the comments.

My husband’s favorite dish are the Carnitas, which are served with black beans and handmade corn tortillas (not pictured). A little pico de gallo and some pickled veggies. If you like spice Chef Cobian has a special recipe sauce, you just have to ask for it. The pickled veggies have a little kick to them as well. If you leave out the tortillas and black beans this is a great Keto-friendly meal.

Of course with keeping it keto you can always order a salad. This was the Steak Salad, which tasted good. Not as good as the Tacos Al Pastor though. Can you tell I really liked that dish…

I had to highlight an adult beverage. Especially this one! One of my favorite things in Mexico, well Ryan’s too, is the fresh squeezed juice. So it was an instant eye catcher when I saw they used fresh juice in their cocktails. This Solarita is made with Milagro Silver Tequila, Gran Gala, Agave Nectar, fresh blood orange juice, fresh lime juice and a salted rim. It is, in my opinion, the best margarita in Pawleys. If you have tried it and think so too, let us know in the comments. If you think there is another better margarita in town, I accept the challenge to try it. Just point me in the right direction!

An honorable mention is the Mezcalita with Montelobos Mezcal. This is a real treat to have in the area and if you have never heard of Mezcal I will be adding a post describing how it is made. Tequila or Mezcal?

I wanted to add this last photo to show you how the ambiance changes at night. So definitely great for a date night. We were meeting some friends here this night and it was their first time trying Sol and they loved it too!!

I hope you are excited to try Sol Cocina Mexicana soon.
