Shopping for tea online isn't easy. You can't smell, touch or taste the tea before you buy it. All you have is a photograph and a product description--and if that's not accurate, you have no idea what you're going to receive in the mail. Who wants to pay $8 for a bag of tea only to find out that it's bitter, unpleasant and not what they expected at all?

Fortunately, most online tea stores are aware of this problem. To make up for it, they offer free samples for new customers. Most stores make you pay a small shipping fee, but you'll read about one store that offers 100% free samples--no taxes, no shipping fees. Either way, you're getting tea for a bargain. You'll spend a few dollars (or less) on a handful of samples and try a selection of teas before you purchase a full-size bag.

Sounds like a great deal, right? Here's seven online tea stores that offer free samples.

1. TeaLula

TeaLula allows new customers to choose up to three free samples. You'll have to pay a small shipping fee, but the samples themselves are 100% free--no additional purchase required. To start, check out their "Our Teas" page and click on a few teas that look interesting. When you see one that you like, hit the "Free Sample" button to the right. Add the item to your cart, then go to the checkout page when you've chosen your three free samples. You'll enter your shipping information, pay a small shipping fee and get your tea in the mail a few days later. It couldn't be easier.

2. Open Door Tea

Open Door Tea is another online store that offers three free samples for new customers. To claim your samples, go to the "Free Tea Samples" page and add a few samples to your cart. You don't have to make an additional purchase, but you will receive free shipping if you spend $35 or more. Go to the checkout page, input your personal information, pay the small shipping fee and wait for your tea to arrive. They restock their teas frequently, but if they don't have one of your selections in stock right now, they'll substitute it with a similar tea.

3. Bloom Teas

Bloom Teas is a United Kingdom-based company that ships their teas worldwide. If you're a new customer, you can choose one of three sample packs. Each pack contains eight teabags and two servings of powdered tea. To get your sample pack, go to the "Free Tea Samples" page and choose the pack that you want to order. You'll have to pay for shipping, but since you're getting ten different tea samples, the small shipping fee is a bargain. Bloom Tea offers unique tea varieties like Passion Sorbet, Jasmine Rush and Raspberry Panna Cotta that you probably won't find anywhere else.

4. Beantown Teas and Spices

Beantown offers a free sampler pack with five packages of loose leaf tea. The only downside is that you can't choose your samples--you'll have to take whatever they give you. However, this is a great option if you like getting surprises in the mail. Go to the "Free Sampler Pack" page and add the sample to your cart, then check out like you would normally. At first, you'll see a $9.00 charge in your cart, but the website adds your free discount automatically. You'll just have to pay for shipping. Each bag makes about three cups of tea, so you're getting fifteen cups of tea for only a few dollars. It doesn't get better than that, right?

5. Georgian Tea Limited

Georgian Tea Limited offers free samples of three popular teas: Black Classic Tea, Black Premium Tea and Green Premium Tea. If you're interested, go to the "Free Samples" page and choose one, two or all three samples. You'll have to pay a small shipping fee, but if you need to stock up on tea, you can add $15 worth of products to your cart to get free shipping. Each bag makes up to two cups of tea depending on how many loose leaves you use.

6. Kai Organic Tea

Kai Organic Tea offers two free samples for new customers. That might not sound like much, but every sample offers up to eight cups of tea. That's sixteen cups of tea--and you don't have to pay anything but the shipping fee. Go to the "Free Tea Sample" page to select two varieties, then complete your order and wait for your tea to arrive. Note that this is a one-time offer.

7. Yunomi

Yunomi's tea sample is the one sample on this list that's 100% free--you don't even have to pay for shipping. To start, go to the "20-gram Japanese Tea Sample" page and choose the sample that you want to order. Once you've done that, sign up for their email newsletter to get a free $5 gift card. Add the coupon code to your total to get a free sample of tea. Yunomi is based in Japan, but they ship their products all over the world. Treat yourself to the taste of fresh, all-natural tea sourced directly from Japan.

That's it! Enjoy your free tea. If you found this content helpful, feel free to leave me a tip so I can write more savings tips and tricks! Additionally, check out Listiller if you're looking for writing jobs.
