The Rivals

Between Sisters

Thanksgiving is supposed to be when people/families come together and are thankful for everything they have been given in life. But not everyone will have a good thanksgiving and not everyone will be happy.

Long ago Serena and Matilda had a great relationship as they enjoyed being sisters but they got older and became adults. They did grow up the rest of the way without each other. You see this year they were fine but one day Matilda called mom while mom was driving Serena’s car. Serena was just trying to bond with Matilda in wanting to do a hair color with her but it didn’t turn out so well because Matilda took it wrong and said that any color would look bad on Serena because she is too pale to have any color on her. Serena was shocked to even get that answer even though she was trying to start a bond with Matilda.

Matilda told mom that she was jealous of the fact that Serena is there with mom and thinks that Serena is always with mom but Serena isn’t.

When Serena goes to see mom it’s to take her where she needs to go for important things that mom needs to be done. But you see Matilda doesn’t even understand that. Serena not only goes to take mom to do important things but also to grocery shop for mom as she has for months. Matilda thinks that Serena was rubbing it in her face but really she wasn’t. You see Serena always wanted family together and she was able to do that for mom but having her big brother and mom start talking again. Serena brought them together because she saw how it was affecting mom. Now today they are happy and they are close. It still doesn’t change the fact that Serena has a jealous little sister and how Matilda thinks her past is to blame Serena.

9 years ago Serena just had her first child named Julissa. Serena’s relationship wasn’t perfect. It was far from perfect and Serena couldn’t run from it because she didn’t want her daughter to be hurt without a father. It also didn’t help that the father's mother put her hands on Serena while she had her newborn Julissa in her hand. One day Matilda showed up knocking on the door and Julissa's father goes downstairs and his mom is up by the door listening to who is knocking. Serena reached the mid stairway and Julissa's father tells Serena to go back upstairs. Serena asks why but she finally was able to get her question answered when she was pushed upstairs and heard crying but was still trying to listen. Julissa's father got Serena into the bathroom and told her “oh that’s your sister”. Serena asked why couldn’t he open the door. He had no answer for it and she starts to cry asking why can’t he answer her question but instead of answering her question he punched the wall so close to her face and she immediately got scared.

Nothing has been easy for Serena because it only got harder after that day. Serena had another baby and it was a boy named, Ethan. As things got harder and she was getting mentally, physically, and emotionally abused she had no one to turn to until she finally confide in her Abuela. While Serena was going through what she was going through she still thought of her sister and what she was going through. How and what she was going through.

9 years later, Matilda uses every excuse to start a fight with Serena. Serena found out this year that she was raped and she didn’t know what was going on and got blamed for it. Matilda blames what she went through on Serena and still can’t get over it after the fact Serena apologize so many times and wrote Matilda a letter but it didn’t phase her at all. Matilda told Serena to leave and Serena told Matilda no. Serena is the oldest and Matilda thinks that it’s okay to disrespect Serena when Serena hasn’t done anything wrong. If Matilda can let everything go that happened between her and their older brother then why can’t she do the same for Serena. It’s sad that Matilda is jealous and wants to find any excuse to fight with Serena. Matilda always throws Serena's past against Serena saying that it was her fault what she went through. Thanksgiving day was a huge fight. Serena’s big brother is full of rage and puts his head into a wall.

Do you think Serena and Matilda will be able to settle their differences?

Do you think Matilda will ever let go of her envy towards Serena?

Is Big brother okay?

Should Serena continue apologizing for something she had no control of?

Would you like part 2?
