Paradise Lost

The End of America?

Today the United States is one step away from a financial and economic catastrophe. And to think that come 2024 voting for Trump will erase the financial and economic woes of the past few years don't be beguiled. For the past forty years we have seen the cost-of-living strips away peoples dignity and with that our freedoms that should be guaranteed by the instruments of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights have also been stripped away. Stripped away by government's failure to preserve our inherent rights and freedoms.

Four generations of Americans have allowed government to erode our core values and guiding principles. They have withered and died on that vine of lost opportunities that we allowed government to create. The results are staggering. The ineptness of this present and past administrations thru decades of self-serving bureaucrats have almost single handily laid waste to the American Dream and pretty much destroyed any hope of pulling America back from falling into the abyss of nations who rose to great heights only to fall.

Some might say the events and the responses have all been preplanned. An orchestrated opera whose crescendo climaxes into anarchy. Now the question is can we avoid this Greek tragedy? That depends on the willingness of the American public to actually acknowledge we actually are headed down into the abyss.

The dire conditions millions face is exasperated by government officials lack of understanding what actually needs to be done to secure our security, stability, and bring back balance into our society. The partisan politics that has paralyzed congress for decades has poisoned the American public. It doesn't help when we have an Administration whose actions and policies act contrary to the best interests of the American public.

Some have already seen the handwriting on the wall that point how far the United States has fallen. Our democratic society has morphed into an unrecognizable shell of it's former self. When someone asked Ben Franklin what kind of government do we have when Franklin left the Constitutional Convention Franklin's replay "A Republic if you can keep it." Well, guess what we haven't kept it . We let our political process become corrupt. That old saying that power corrupts is a fact.

For the past two decades or even longer the political process between Democrats and Republicans have engineered the democratic process. Engineered in such a way that they favor one political candidate over the other. A willful coordinated effort to suppress a candidacy of anyone who doesn't fit the agenda that either parties establishment desires. The media is complicit in the way the political establishment controls or favors one candidate over another. And it is the media that are now controlled by Hedge Fund managers whose only interest is the bottom line. This in turn has eliminated many of the local news affiliates all across the country. Another form of oligarchy control over the news.

Today the almost irreversible damage that past and this present Administration have done to the well-being of not only our citizens but, our democratic process is very evident. Supreme Court decisions, the Federal Reserve as well a Congress thru the years have dramatically altered the landscape of America. There has always been a power struggle between political parties. But too often all this has done is create leverage where one political party is able to assert influence on policies that affect the American public. What the United States has been faced with is the cumulation of years of a political process having to sustain itself by garnishing vast amounts of capital just in order to field a particular candidate. And that candidate just cements the oligarchy ruling class that we have today.

What is happening is that Congress, and administrations thru the years have skirted their responsibility to implement policies and directives that would elevate every American's standard of living, bring balance back into our society and secure our nations national security. With the crisis in Europe and the lingering Covid-19 pandemic all that is being done is like throwing an anchor to a drowning victim.

With mid-terms coming up and a year and a half before 2024 just might be time enough for the likes of a Teddy Roosevelt to jump out of the pages of history and ride to save the day. Maybe that is just what America needs now. The prospect of a Teddy Roosevelt caliber of a person rising in today's national consciousness really isn't that far fetched. Though unlikely but this nation is really in deep trouble and we need serious people that realize this and resolve to work together to pull this nation out of the depths of despair
