Nature
Volcanic eruptions are causing gold and other valuable metals to leak from the Earth's core and reach the surface.
An enormous reservoir of gold and other valuable metals can be found deep under the Earth's core, hidden beneath the thick crust and searing layers. It has long been thought by scientists that these treasures, which include ruthenium and gold, are still trapped close to the core-mantle border, which is located roughly 1,900 miles (3,000 kilometres) below the surface.

The Minamata Mystery: The day a city in Japan realized their cats—and then their children—were "dancing" toward death.
The sharp, metallic tang of raw effluent cut through the salt-heavy breeze of the Shiranui Sea. A tortoiseshell cat spun in violent, frantic circles on the wooden dock. It wasn't playing. Its spine arched into a rigid, unnatural bow, claws tearing splintered grooves into the wet cedar planks. Foam dripped from its jaws. Then, with a guttural shriek that sounded horribly human, it threw itself directly into the churning grey water and drowned. This was the summer of 1953. The fishermen of Minamata called it neko odori byo—the dancing cat disease. They laughed at first. They stopped laughing when their daughters began to dance.

Countries that might vanish in the next 50 years
Right now, somewhere in the world, a country is disappearing. Not in a movie. Not in a history book. In real time. The maps we grew up with — the ones pinned to classroom walls — may look completely different fifty years from now. And the scary part? This has happened before. The Roman Empire. The Soviet Union. Yugoslavia. All gone. All once thought permanent. So the question is — which countries on today's map are next?

Finding Wonder Again in the Changing Weather
“These are the seasons of emotion And like the winds they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion I seek the torch we all must hold This is the mystery of the coldest quotient Upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall” — Led Zeppelin, “The Rain Song”

Author's note: Years ago, I was in a meeting when some women who came down from the tar sands in Canada had come to speak with women about our water being in trouble. They said it was important for our families, for their future, and for all of us. And that it is the women's job to care for the water.

Northern Lights Tonight and the Quiet Magic Above Us
There are nights that feel ordinary until you look up. The sky is dark, still, and silent. Then something changes. A soft glow begins to move, slowly stretching across the horizon like a living painting. The idea of seeing the northern lights tonight carries a feeling that is hard to explain. It is not just about beauty. It is about witnessing something rare and deeply calming at the same time. People wait for moments like this, sometimes for years. When it finally happens, it does not feel loud or overwhelming. It feels quiet, almost personal. This is what makes the experience so powerful and why it stays in memory long after the night ends.
